Well I finally got my Xenon sport flares installed, pretty tricky, had to heat them up to contour the vehicle to proper specification but all and all everything went well. The powder coated bumper looks very nice I might add. I took some pics so you guys could tell me what you think.

It's soo dusty here this time of the season they got dirty just from driving outside the car wash.

 

I like your tint. I wish that was legal here. Is it there?

 

No its not...we can have 50%. But the cops around here have better things to worry about, like auto theft. I've been pulled over a few times by different cops and had clear tail lights installed and they only issued one ticket for speeding.

 

nice flares. and the black bumper as well. i'll be looking to add those to the front and back on my ride

Yep 20% I wanted it to match the factory rear, I think 20% is pretty close.
The kit ran me about 350$ CDN. They are quite aggressive flares, and they are a lot nicer and easier to install then Bushwacker's. Also Xenon customer service is very good, the original install instructions were damaged by the time the flares got to me, so I called Xenon and they faxed me over a copy of the installation process. Where, Bushwacker....you mention the the holes don't line up like they "state" in an email, and then you get ignored. "happened to me". I still had to drill with the Xenon's....but the holes were properly matched up. All & All if your thinking about installing Bushwacker's I would seriously look at the Xenon flares first.

 

Nice flares,now you need some mudflaps. The Xenon are a bit wider and closely resemble the OEM Limited flares.

I guess I was lucky since my Bushwackers bolted right up.

I also see the rear door piece is separated into two like the OEM flare,the BWs are one piece snapped on over a bracket piece that is screwed onto the door.

 

I only had an issue with Bushwacker's and Tacoma's, maybe they do match up properly for the 4Runner's...I wasn't going to take the chance this time around.

 

I did those back in '04 and from what I've been reading is BWs quality control may have slipped over the last few years since I've read about a few fitment issues with 3rd gens.

 

Yeah I believe it, I do like the high gloss your flares give off though. Very shiny. Do you polish them with anything?

 

i've considered getting flares but i'm leery of drilling into my panels (i live in rusty car country). could you talk a little more about the installation and what you had to do for the xenon flares? especially by the doors, that always baffled me how they worked that.

Hey patty, it wasn't hard at all. My SR5 came fitted with the factory chrome fender pieces "where flares are supposed to go". Xenon made it so that the flares matched up with the factory holes that were already in my fender from the chrome trim package. Toyota has plastic lining inside the fender where the screws drill in, so there's no drilling straight into the body. The door piece was tricky, I had to drill from the inside of the door then rust proofed it and sealed it so that no water/snow/salt got in. It took more time heating up the pieces to contour the body then I thought it would. But all in all it looks great and saves me stone chips. The only drilling was on the flares themselves, Xenon has all the holes pre-sited and marked on the flares all you need to do it make the proper holes, use some 3m double sided tape so the flares don't rub the paint off and your done. Its an 8-piece kit.

I had a friend paint them and he added a bit of flexing agent to the paint and I just kept them waxed.
