WRU Heavy Duty Lift Support Struts???
Apparently all the big name lift support cylinders for the rear hatch do a mediocre job at best of lifting the rear hatch on our 4runners. I have ordered 2 separate sets of hydraulic lift supports rated at 157 and 169 lbs respectively and they both suck. They will lift the rear hatch to about chest level on their own but if I coax them the rest of the way they seem to hold...but just barely.
I read on another thread a user was having the same issue and nobody seems to know a good supplier of heavy duty lift support struts for our rear hatch doors. So I'm posting this to see if anyone out there has had any luck with any certain manufacturers that can definitively say they work great. Thanks! I have a 2001 4runner.

Me too. Another aftermarket part failure scenario. I use 100% orignal equipment parts on my 350,000+ mile 4runner.
I tried to save some money and bought Monroe lift support cylinders. They push the hatch up about halfway then crap out.
