Bob,
Are you saying that a 96-98 grill will fit my '00? That would be a sweet deal as I was thinking that modifying the '00 might be a pain.
Thanks,
Mike

Looks great Bob. Nice write up and the edgeing and straps really make it a true Satoshi grille...I got the knock-off version. IMO, the '99 up grille will not work for this mod...the middle chrome section is part of the surrounding chrome, not a separate piece that can be cut off.

Nice writeup Bob!

I want to do that but put a big "Type R" emblem instead of the TOYOTA badge. Do you think it will work?

Kidding, I really like how it looks, maybe you should start up a side-business and sell these puppies on ebay!

Hey bud,

Did you get that other set of lights on yet?

Starting bid $200
but the pics do show what can be done with a '99 grill shell. Interesting...

Talking Looks good

That 99 grill looks good.

I didn't pay attention to the design of the 01-02 black grill when I it put in, but what specifically makes it so hard to modify?

that grill would be an excellent start to this mod, but it'd be much cheaper to find a 96-98 grill and do the work yourself, or even take it to a local paint and body shop.

I like the way this emblem looks but everywhere I look it costs $40 more than the other emblems. It is from a FJ Does anybody know where they could be cheaper?

It would be easier to start fresh. I can see bad surfacing all over that grill with primer, which is a really bad sign. It would require alot more work than if you started from zero.

cubuff4runner,
I like that emblem too but for some reason it wouldn't work...I can't remember why. Maybe it's too big or something...

nope, that's weird. maybe try emailing from another program? or maybe he doesn't have that same email anymore? i sent him an email a while back, translated into japansese from one of those translating site, but never got a response. bob might be able to better answer you since he communicated with him back and forth (or his wife at least).
what are you trying to ask him?

He's selling it for $100 now instead of the $200 he was before...... Still way to high for me.

I have the 2001 grille..so I am going to hit junk yards to find a 96-99 grille for me to cut up

I wish someone would make a gille like that to fit a 2004 Tacoma.

Mummer,

What's to say you can't? Looking at the 04 Taco grill, I'm sure its possible. Just take a look at the write up again and if the process, material, etc looks doable against your grill, give it a shot! Its just a matter of removing your grill at this point.

Email me if you have any questions.

Bob
