But the FX lights sit stock much higher than a BMW car would sit. If the HIDs came out of an X5, that's a different story. I'm just saying it would be easier with something that comes out of the factory near the height of car your putting them into.

Man I would love to do this mod.

I just don't see the difference, it's a meter of aiming lights Hi or Low. There is another person here who swap projectors out of BMW 3 series and had no problem aiming it. May be he'll chip in here

bratik, it would be cool if you:

1) bought me all necessary parts
2) put it all together for me
3) flew to boston
4) installed it for me

all on your dime.

how does that sound, do we have a deal?

Ok. Well if it works it works. I was just thought that it may be a problem.

You should see if there's any interest in this as far as selling them goes. I'm sure that if you put together a few pairs of fully constucted headlamps peopel would buy them. I wouldn't mind installing and aiming them myself, its jsut getting my hands on the parts woudl be tough.

I thought maybe buy some aluminum sheets from home depot and fit it over, then maybe polish it? Does this sound doable?

Awesome Paul. Thanks for taking the time to put the write up together.

I was thinking after looking at your pic, Hella Black Magic driving lights would sweet on your ARB in place of your current lights and really compliment the mod.

2001Mill,
What you need to do is somehow place them where your fogs are. If I ever do this mod, they will not be placed in the stock location. Part of my problem is being too high up. I have to aim my lights further down the higher I go.

True but someone could also rip it off of the flimsy/exposed unit and take my $400 investment..... plus that'd draw too much attention(dim headlights and ultrabright fogs). Not my cup of tea I'd say

The reason they are illegal is because they cannot be aimed properly and you blind anyone in front of you. I would just say its polite not to run those.

Good to hear.. I'll be searching High and Low for some bi-Xenons and ballasts from a 3er. I can't wait until this mod is complete.. a 2000 4Runner w/ NAV and HID's would be pretty cool. Speaking of... Toyota should have offered a Lexus version of the Gen 3 as a premium w/ those options anyways.

You need to have a "Flash Friday" sign in your window!

re: "Flash Friday" reference.
(some info on that site is NOT age appropiate)

I was actually thinking about this the other day, but I am not sure many people would buy it since this would be an expansive set up. I don't have a connection at a body shop any more so I'll have to buy it from somewhere else. My guess full setup Bi-Xenon with wire Harness would be somewhere between 700-900 depends if it'll have to get new headlights.
