does the sequoia 'auto close' or do you still have to hold the button?

The Sequoia one does Auto close and open, at least on the 2005 model. Never got the "safety" thing....ooops....my head is sticking out of the sun roof.....good thing it paused or I might have hurt myself...

I don't know if this will change anyone's mind-but the sunroof was a deal breaker for me. I just had to have it. I rarely use it-but for me it was a necessity. Look at it this way-it adds more head room for the driver. Heck-I had someone drive it with it open just for the headroom. It is just cool. What can I say?

For the guy who is getting cooked by his sunroof-5% tint will solve that problem pronto.

I had a factory sunroof in my Gen 1 (1987 SR5) I even was able to find in a wrecking yard the removable shade insert. Now THAT was kewl! I could pop that baby in place and no worries from the beating sun, twist of the wrist and it came right out, pop open the rear latch and had inflow of air. Was a really GR8 option on the first gens. My Gen 2 '95 did not have a sunroof and I missed that so when I found my Gen 3 '98 it came with the factory Moon Roof, tilt, two position open. Only thing about that one is when fully open it has a wind deflector that will oscillate in 60mph+ driving. Fixed that by installing a Toyota Moon Roof deflector which attaches to the drip tray via specially made clamps which allow the roof to seal tight. Never a leak and during the summer months when washing and cleaning, check the drip trays for debris, ensure the drain holes are clear and no worries! Aftermarket ones are bad juju

They are nice, but they do impede headroom in the 3rd gen. If you are over 6' you may find it to be an issue. I'm a hair under 6' and I do bump my head every now and then in my 02, that never happened in my 00 w/o the moon roof.

All my vehicles have had sunroofs. Great feature, I rarely use the AC during the summer, just open up all the windows and roof. I would definitely stay away from aftermarket, heard some bad things about them. My OEM has never leaked.

BTW, all sunroofs are designed to leak into a tray with usually 4 drains that go into the wheel wells or back wall in the cab of a pickup.

I did end up getting a 4Runner w/ a moonroof, and I really like it. I'm glad I got it --- I love driving around at night and being able to look up and see the open sky.

Don't have one.. looked at a 4Runner with a sunroof but I hit my head on the headliner (next to the sunroof)..

If you are over 6 feet tall test drive one first..

mine leaks but ist my fault. i have a 99 4runner. i was in snow and thought it would be nice to do the heater on with roof open thing so i wipe the snow off the roof and try to open, but frozen shut, so from drivers seat, i push on front center of moonroof glass upward and hear a crack. i look closley and glass is not cracked. it turnes out the black trim piece that wraps completley around the glass is brittle when frozen and cracked. if you open your roof, it would be the piece between the glass and the seal. i just bought somo window seal repair stuff. its pretty thin ( like thinned out silicone )so i will have to fill the crack a couple of times and let it run down. when it cracked, it went from top of glass, all the way around to bottom. this happened four years ago, but my girlfriend was driving truck till recently and i forgot about until i started driving it. we shall see how the fix goes. f L O
