No they are not compatible.
I've talked to him before about making a set for a 3rd gen. If I remember correctly, he said they don't currently offer a set b/c there's just not a market for tube doors on a 3rd gen 4Runner.
However, I'm sure if you give him some measurements, he could build you a set fairly easy.
I am unsure what the law here in AL is about removing your doors, but a guy I know has been driving his 4Runner w/o doors for over a month now without any problems.
Oh and here's a pic of his junk. Notice the aftermarket side mirror he bolted to the fender...classic. Since he lost his door speakers, he installed a set of 6.5" speakers in the front kick panels

i beg to differ. every time an image pops up people start going nuts with questions about them, like cbuff's a while back. now when it comes to actually buying them it may be a different story but i know there are a good few on here who want these

EDIT: Oh and Schaffer from www.shaffersoffroad.com told me the same thing about there not being a market for them...but he could def build you a set though.
And yeah, the 4Runner pictured above is a piece...a piece of what, well you decide

Oh and looks like Shaffer's been advertising his tube doors on older toyotas:

Hit him up and see what kind of pricing he can do you on a set of these for a 3rd gen. (IMO, his doors pictured in that link look the best.)

In Washington, the CJ5 and CJ7 type Heeps can get away with it because they came from the factory with removeable doors. However, the Wrangler types can't any more than we can. Basically, it comes down to how the rig was crash tested. Ours were tested with doors that were an integral part of the structure.
