Its normal, The tension of the rocker arms on the cam lobe is what made them move when you took the belt off. Just make sure they are back on the marks when you get it back together. If you get way out of line, just put the number one cylinder on top dead center and line the cams up on there marks and you will be good to go

Theres a couple ways to get on tdc "top dead center." Look at the crankshaft, put the keyway slot at 12 o'clock, or use the timing mark on the crank pulley, put it at tdc on the plasting cover with the timing advance scale on it. or take the plug out of the 1 cylinder "if your looking at the engine its the first one on the left" and put some type on blunt non metal object "i like using a plastic pen" in there to feel and see if that piston is up. put the pen in and rotate the crank and watch the pen. Do not let it fall past the plug hole! You will have to pull the head to get it out!

Yes sir, get the crank right, put the belt on it, get the right cam where it should go, work all slack out of belt and around the right side pully, then under the idler, around the left cam pully and on to the tensioner. Dont let tension off or the cams will slip a tooth or two on the belt! Happend to me 3 times before succes!

thanks for your help again, and your patience< I believe I understand, its fine to turn the cams to their marks at the top,(clockwise yes?) then with the crank mark lined up like in your pic try to get the belt on while keeping everyone on their marks.sound right?? thanks Mike

Yes clockwise is fine. Good luck dude, it can be a little aggravating! need 3 hands kinda thing. After you get every thing on and tight, turn the crank one revelution and check marks again. Just a failsafe, measure twice cut once
