i actually didn't have time to stop there today i went straight to work from school. but i looked while i drove by and now they have 2 red 4runners. one has the spare tire carrier, so its an early 90's one. i'll look at both tomorrow, get the vin #'s and see if they'll let a young guy like me test drive em.

lol, anyways, honestly, if the 2995 one ends up looking clean and runs well, etc. even though it has high mileage, what do you think of it for the price, when the engine finally goes later on, I could always just do some minor overhaul like bearings/rings/some cams maybe if lobes are pretty flat, basic stuff like that or import a low mileage engine and drop it in but only spending that much sounds REALLY good to me seeing as it is inevitbale that I am gonna ding it up, and I am gonna always have it muddy(I will actually pressure wash the inner wheel wells to get all the mud out of there so I dont have any bad rust/corrosion preblems like I have sen on some runners. then ill have enough to lift it/ whatever else i anna do and still be able to get approved for a nice daily driver and can use this only for the 4 wheelin and the occasional trip pulling some quads opr something and drive my car to work and back/long trips, etc...

searched SO many sites and only found a couple that had the 3VZE and the ones that did they wanted like 2500 for a used one, I found one site that sold rebuilt ones for only 2800. so I could probably rebuild it myself for around 1k-1500 so then 4k and I have a 0km engine runner. the trans would be next to go but toyota makes good trannies right? how is the one thats bolted to the 3VZE, as good as the one thats bolted to the 22r in early 80's trucks, my uncle has 410k on both eng/trans with no major work on either.

yeah, well i stopped and looked at all 3. i guess it all depend on what your looking for. the prices are definetly a reflection of how good of condition they are in. the on thats $3000 has some rust spots on the hood from paint chipping. the other red one looks like it has a leak in the sunroof. there was water in the center consol. the white one was in pretty good condition and had an after market deck. the $3000 didn't have a deck or pocket in it at all. it was also all dirty inside, you would think if they were trying to sell a car they would at least vacume out the inside. i didn't have time to start any of them up or drive them though. been really busy with school, finals are next week.

wow, pics are decieving, looks prettylean from the pictures of the inside, I am gonna try and make it there tomorrow maybe because I got my headgasket in today and it is too late now but tomorrow mornign I am gona change the oil and flush the cooling system and it should be good ot go, then I am gonna go see about maybe trading it in or juts financing a little bit of it. so do you think it is worth it if I could get it for 2500 OTD?

a bit of rust on the hood is no problem to me and on 2 cars so far I have taken out all the panels, scrubbed carpet clean, and taking upholstery material off of the seats and putting em through the washer and they come out looking pretty new. I will see what I think of it when i go look, but if I did end up with it for 2500 out the door, would you think I got screwed, or I got a good deal, or just an OK deal???

and who knows websites that sells parts for the 3VZE? I wanna see how much it would cost to get new rod/main/cam-bearings/rings/gaskets/etc. and also anyone know aof a compnay selling cuztom pistons for it so I could jump to about 10:1 for a bit more power out of it?

thanks

i would say if it runs, 2500 is a pretty good deal. i mean thats dirt cheap! i guess it all depends on how it runs. hell, you could probably part out a 4Runner for more than that.

well, had my car out and got some gas in it cuz it was below E, so on my way back it dires, wont start, wait ten minutes it starts, get home and turning in my driveway im on the cell, not paying enough attention and let it die, and it wont start, so I almost kill myslef pushing this pile of junk into my driveway only to have it start the 30 seconds later after I pushed it up the drive. I would have waited but i had cranked it so many times in that 10 minute period trying ad in my drive for a nunte the batery seamed WEAK so i figured it owuldnt start til i gave it a charge. so tomorrow i am changing oil/flushing cooling system, cleaning it and hoping that a OVERFULL crankcase of milky water is what is causing hard starts since the crank is having to slosh around in tons of fluid, even thougb I doubt it. but before i did the headgasket it ran like complete CRAP and died sometimes, now when it runs it runs real good but when it dies, it obviously ceases to run good til it runs again. lol

but for now I am actually going to do cheap mods to it so that I have moeny fr repairs if any happen to arrise, I am gonna put some 98 dollar swamper LTB 31/11.50 15's on it with a RB 2" BL (will those tires go on stock rims with no rubbing problems? Ill be in it just about 500 bucks and have a beefier looking rig that should do "decent" in the spots where I will take ittil its fully built.

are there any other tires that you can get for under 100 bucks that look like they are decent?
