Will these new bilsteins work with the coilovers?
A friend ordered some new bilsteins for the front of his 3rd gen. The truck has coilovers, is lifted a couple inches, etc. Anyway, we get the shocks/springs out and as we're putting the coil over collar onto the new bilstein shock, we notice there is no snap ring toward the bottom of the shock to catch the coil over collar like there was on the old bilsteins. They're the same part number, apparently they just changed the design of the body of the shock, so it's all 1 peice... thus no snap ring is necessary toward the bottom.
Now my question is this. There's 3 holes where you can insert some little screws that thread through the collar and into the body of the shock - to hold it in place. Is this supposed to be sufficient to hold the weight of the vehicle? It seems there's tiny bolts (4-6mm) would not be near large enough to secure that collar onto the shock body. Or am I missing something?
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks,
Kyle
