Will denso O2 sensor for manual fit an automatic?
Hey,
I ordered the wrong denso O2 sensor (234-4161). Apperantly this sensor is for a manual and my truck is a automatic. Does anybody know if they are interchangeable.... the only obvious difference to me is the wiring harness is longer. Your thoughts

Denso's flange mount o2 sensors for the 3rd gen 1996-1998 (as opposed to A/F sensors, which are totally different) are all the same except for the wire length. The proof of this is that the 234-4206 universal sensor (that has no harness plug, just a pigtail) can be used in all applications up through 1998, including those calling for the 234-4161. In 1999, you start having A/F sensors on the Cali. trucks and then you run into screw mount rear sensors in even later trucks, so you have to be a little more careful.

Sorry.... i should've mentioned it is non-Cali truck. 1999 4runner sr5, 3.4 Lt. automatic.
So..... the Sensor (234-4161) I ordered is for a 1999 V6 non-Cali., manual tranny. Can this sensor be used on a automatic? Anybody?

I got that. If the wire reaches, it will work fine. I just put the other info in for other people with other trucks who might read this.

My research indicates no. Wish I saw this 3 days ago. I bought the wrong one as well, we could have swapped. Oh well.

My research was simply looking up part numbers. They may function ok. I would compare before/after gas mileage closely.
