why is it so hard to find a bumper?
I have a 1998 4runner limited. So far i have done the toytec ultimate lift, 33" Goodyear MT/R's, trailgear sliders and the bud built skid plates. Now i am ready for the next piece of the puzzle, but the problem is noone seems to make it!! I need a front bumper and have been looking; TJM has vanished from what i've heard, ARB makes their bull bar for what seems like every vehicle, but not for the 3ed gen runners anymore. I like the shrockworks ones, but at $980 plus shipping i am on the fence, plus you need all those lights to really complete it...so i am asking, does anyone know of anything else out there? i want to stay with the "scrock" style, not the tube style and i need it to be wide to accomodate the limited fender flares. I would really appreciate the help!

how "slight" is the modification and do you know if the width will work with the limted 4runner stock flares? This could be the end of my search as i have heard that ARB makes a great product...

Prado bar works too.
ARB is great, but not very cheap either. You can get them from NSOR or National4WDbut they are >1200 CDN.
The shrockworks can be had at about 850 USD if you dont get it powdercoated or the top bars.

yea i guess so, do you know why arb stopped making the 3ed gen bumper? i know they did at one point, i've heard there were problems with the airbag sensors or something like that...maybe that is why companys shy away from doing one, the $ that R&D would cost to design it to work properly with the sensor??? thanks for the imput, anyone else have anything?

Also, the Shrockworks still is the nicest bumper for the 3rd gens that I have seen in a while and they have the option of flares/no flares width.
No matter which you choose, you should expect to pay around 1000.

if you go to slee-offroad.com, they have some old stock TJM bumpers still available for decent prices. i think they are for the tacoma's but again, like everyone esle said, slight modifications and it'll work!

Search ebay and craigslist TJM bumpers may show up from time to time.
I'd say Shrockworks as well, there's just a long lead time. If you can go custom (finding someone to make for you)that might be your best bet.

I was in your shoes for a very long time.
ARB Tacoma bumpers fit fine, you just need to cut off the ends of the frame rails, and drill two holes. Its pretty simple.
I have always liked ARB's the best, I donno know why... Finally got one for cheap after 2 years of waiting.
