Why does my 3.0 idle low
Last March my timing belt & other accessories within the timing cover went to heck. Cost me a grand to get fixed. Well since then there was a pulley going out noise and the shop took the cover off, said they re-adjusted the Tbelt and the noise went away. A week later the idle was low so I took it in to have the timing adjusted. He adjusted the Tbody up and it was ok. Now a month or so later the idle is low again. Whats the deal? Getting it to kick into OD varies. Sometimes it kicks in and the roar of the ISR mod makes me think everything is cool. But sometimes it wont kick into OD. I am guessing that is because I am in a higher gear or something. BTW I am talking about a rig with an automatic. Any ideas?

Sounds like you've got a couple of problems. Both are probably the result of the recent work, but I can't help you with the idle problem. The O/D problem is most likely caused by a slightly stuck thermostat. If the engine temp is even a few degrees cooler than optimum, the computer won't let the O/D engage. The computer tries to keep the engine at a certain temp and lower RPMs would produce less heat, thus no O/D. Check your fan and coolant. Replace the t-stat if there's nothing else obvious. I had an O/D problem and replacig the t-stat resulted in a hairline difference on the temp gauge, but no more O/D problems.
Good Luck.
