Where the heck is the PCV valve!
Where the heck is the PCV valve on my 1989 4Runner! Its a V6 3.0. I bought a stupid Haynes book, and it appears to show where its located on a 22RE engine, coming off the rocker panel - of course I have the 3VE engine or something....
Ok, yes, I am very ignorant when it comes to cars. I don't know ˟˟˟˟ about them!! If someone can provide very detailed instructions, or if anyone knows of a website that has pictures (i like pictures), that would be very helpful
Last monday, had a buddy of mine help me do alot of things. We changed the spark plugs, the plug wires, and cap/rotor. That was phase 1 I was happy to learn how easy this stuff is to do. Phase 2 is next monday, which is fuel filter, 3 new belts, and changing the oil - Mobil 1 syn. He's gonna help me put in the pcv valve but I thought I would try it on my own, seems easy enough. It's just that I can't find it :\
btw, 165,000 miles and my truck runs like a champ

I've got the 22re but I'm looking at the haynes manual now.It looks like the pcv is on the passenger side of the motor under the intake plenum. There should be about a 1/2" black hose coming off the plenum going to the valve cover on that side. This hose should be connected to the pcv.It should just pull out of the valve cover with a little wiggling motion(on the valve, not you),unless it's a screw-in type( ).Hope this helps you out!

It should be a hose going from somewhere on the intake, to a small piece which plugs into the crankcase on the top somewhere. It will just pull out and probably make some noise if you shake it. Get a new one from Checker or something so you know what to look for.

The PCV valve on the 3VZ-E is on the passenger side valve cover UNDER the intake plenum and behind all the hoses and vacuum lines. you may be able to get the PCV valve out with a pair of long needlenose, but the problem is that if the grommet cracks when you do it... you have to replace the grommet, and that means taking the intake plenum off. So basically, unless you are ready to take the intake plenum off, don't do this yourself, take it to a shop.

Thanks guys. Everyone was right, but me I found it, and it does look like a pain to get to. My buddy that would help me switch it out isn't even sure he wants to attempt it
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
