Question Where can I find Firestik?

Can anyone tell me of any local shops of San Diego North county that have Firestik supplies?

OR

Can anyone tell me of any good reliable websites that have it?

I'd love to run a search but my computer's freaking out on me and freezing with just IE.

Thanks!

Oh yeah, I'm thinking of picking up the channel mount mini kit like everyone's write up in the tech section.

You should take a look on ebay. If you know what you wanna get you can get a deal on a brand new one.

I bought it because my firestik hadn't come in yet, and we were runnning some trails! I'd sell that to ya!

I got my firestik II from ebay, and it's a 3 foot american flag!! I love it!

Baja: Thanks for the link

dbullock: Yeah, I actually thought of that after I'd posted... I think it might be good to see what my options are though.

doink: That's kind of you but I don't think 3 ft. is going to clear the top of my car "2/3 or more of the antenna length" :pat:

INsr5runner: Nah... kinda got my heart set of Firestik. Thanks anyway

Bob: Do you have a business address or website link? I've heard you or someone else mention the before but don't know where they are.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the help!

Look in our Vendor Links section, there are tons of links in there, and Mike's business Xtreme Off-Road is in there.

Not sure where I'm planning on putting it. Definitely not on the top of the cab though - was thinking maybe off my rear bumper but not so sure about that as I'd probably break something loading.

Maybe off the hood just like all the write ups. That way I'd be able to keep an eye on it while I was driving and also for checking clearance (if its on)

Haven't made up my mind yet... still reading through Firestik's online library and trying to learn as much as I can.

the last trail ride i went on, some tacos had their antenna mounted on the side of their bed near the tail gate. kinda hard to explain. i would have to agree with you on the money issue..my wallet seems to be getting lighter every day :chicken:

side of the bed... you mean like this?

I think I need to take a sabbatical and try my hand at these $1,000,000 reality TV shows...

Power Inverter at home

CB in the mail

Amsoil deal in the works

FIPK filter next

3" suspension lift after that

Who knows what's next???

*sigh*
Anyone want to buy a bike? How about a laptop?

yeah, you know... I was thinking about doing that but the more I think about it, the more mounting from the hood sounds better...

Thanks for the idea though!

I'm thinking about mounting mine either on the inside of the bed or from the rear bumper. Not quite sure yet. I don't really like the hood mount type.

I'm not all that crazy about a hood mount either but if I'm reading correctly... having something in the bed would affect the SWR, right?

Does proximity make any difference?

Well I was reading a bunch of the info about the firestik's and they make a specific mount for the jeep that mounts to the tire rack bump stop. For that application they recommend a 4' antenna to get above the roof line for better reception.

So I start thinking maybe I should put a 4' antenna on the rear bumper using a simple stud mount through the top of the bumper. Doing that I imagine hitting something (whatever it may be) and ripping the thing off. I don't want any spring mount causing the antenna to hit the truck all day (i'm not about to put a gay tennis ball on it either).

So it leads me to the conclusion that I should mount the antenna inside the bed near the rear on one side or the other. This will allow me to use a spring and maybe a quick disconnect to take if off easy. I haven't really taken a look at how I would go about doing this yet since I want to keep all holes to a minimum and don't want wires running all over.

AHHHH Decisions.....Decisions....

dbullock:

I haven't gotten to that chapter yet, I suppose... what kind of sway are we looking at? The more I look at that hood mount the less I like it especially with all the open space in the bed.

I was actually thinking something like the image I have below but don't think it'd work.

Hey let me know what other ideas you got...

so far I'm just thinking about the rear bumper... off to the side where it won't get hit by the tailgate
