Where to buy NEW transmission?

I'm saving for a new transmission for my 97 Runner. I would like to know if anyone has info on where to get a completly new transmission that would be less expensive than the dealership.

No such thing. The only place you could have ever gotten a new transmission was the dealer. If you want a rebuilt transmission, for manual I would recommend MarlinCrawler. For an auto, I would have no idea.

Dealer would be the only place for a new one.

I guess I should just save for a rebuild tranny, because I don't want to pay full price from the dealer, which means bend over and grab your ankles.
Any good shops out there selling rebuilds?

We could be of more help, if you'd tell us whether you are looking for an auto, or manual tranny.

IPT is good, I have a fully built one from them. I have about 5,000 miles on it so far. PM me if you have any questions.

On 1sttoyotaparts.com (genuine toyota parts dealer) you're looking at about $2600 for an automatic and $1300 (damn, that's cheap) for a manual trans.
