whats the widest wheel spacers that are okay to use with stock lug nuts? ive heard of people using spacers over an inch thick...do you have to change your lugs or something or would they be okay with stock ones

Eh, go with adpaters over spacers. All pro-off road.com sells them. Spacers sometimes give you a front shimmy.

how do those work? you bolt the spacer up to your stock lugs, and bolt your wheels to the new lugs on the spacer?

Spacers attach to the existing lug studs (up to 1/4" usually works for stock, longer studs needed for up to 3/4") and then adapters are available from about 1" on up. An adapter differs from a spacer in that is has 6 studs pressed into it that the wheel bolts to and 6 holes that bolt the spacer to the hub. So you end up with 12 lug nuts instead of 6 per wheel.

Here is a 1/4" spacer:

Here is a 1.5" wheel adapter:

I don't know if 'mad' is the best word to describe that.
