yea i REALLY like the way his mounts to the frame and i REALLY like how he put "skids" or "skirts" under the bumper to protect the brackets and frame rails.

for me, it's a tossup between the Rockware design and BruceTS design. i really want to replace my stock 3rd gen rear bumper with a new one, but other things first. right now i'd probably give preference to the bruce design.

my personal fav is Schaefer's sonoran steel bumper, but Bruce's is in a close second, just high quality on both!

The only way you'll get a copy of my bumper is to make it yourself or talk Jason demello into making one. Like I said I'll have detailed photo's with all dimensions on my website, once I have the time to finish building the pages.

I've been tempted to input everything into my Auto CAD program, but I just have way too many projects to finish before hand. My 4Runner will be on hold for a few months, I have to finish my room addition in my house. My son will be moving in after he graduates from HS next month, so I need the space.

Thanks Ryan! Most folks are concerned with looks over function, and I'm just the opposite, except I do have to say that once mine's done, it will look pretty sweet. Not to mention it is without a doubt the highest clearance/departure angle bumper I've seen yet, which was my plan. As most folks saw at the big rock face at Fain's Ford, even higher clearance would have been nice for that obstacle.

My rear bumper is made from what we call "steam pipe". The mounting points is channel that fits inside the chassis rails and some Paving breaker bolts to strengthen from the centre of the pipe to the side pipes. The tire carrier swings to the side and can be removed in 2 minutes.

I personally like Bruce's since it still retains the stock look and protects the exhaust pipe and looks good while back on the road. Some,while they do their job just lack style which is still important to some off roaders.

When I was designing my bumper, there was a few requirements that needed to be addressed. First I wanted to retain the stock plastic shroud and it needed to be strong enough to be used for towing my boat. Mounting the reciever hitch any higher than I did would have made it quite difficult getting a hitch drop low enough, without having one custom made. Also there are leverage issues when the drop is attached, so the mounts need to be quite strong. As for departure angle, I've never had a problem with clearance, but then again I am on 35's so it does sit quite high. The biggest concern was I wanted the lines to flow with rest of the rig, adding the angles and rounding the corners matched with my front bumper, yet giving a stock look from a distance. I havn't weighed the bumper yet, but the next time I take it off, I'll do it then. A rough guess, it's less than the stock bumper/reciever hitch combo. From the start, the plan was to have the exhaust go through the bumper, with the addition of the body lift it made it possible. As for if my bumper can handle the abuse, here's a shot from Hammers;

So are those the factory side panels but just with shaved bottoms and the fear factory section shaved from the upper base section down? My buddy and I have been looking into saving a few bucks and doing this. i hate the ugliness below the side panels. Any closer up shots?

How can someone possibly decide out of all these awesome designs. Right now I am looking at an All Pro bumper just because its the cheapest one. I would love to buy a home made one but I just dont have that kind of cash for 1 bumper. And of course i would love to make my own but thats going to take more experience than what i have under my belt.

Hey Robt2k. On your rear bumper, how did you attach that spare? i dont see any pipes going up to hold the tire? is there?

Great looking bumpers everyone. I cant pick just one. I love them all.

[QUOTE=WATRD]I am kind of partial to mine. It's a custom job from a chapter member. Simple, straight forward and to the point Beefy as a brick out-house and high clearance.

Real nice, what are the dimensions of the basic piece, if you please?

You can see the tire carrier here-

BBB here's another pic also-

It's basically a 2x4 piece of square tube with round tubing wrapping around the side of rear fenders. The stock side wings were trimmed and welded to the round tubing and the plastic piece for the back lays in and is screwed down.
