welcome Frank, 1k will buy you some things but you will be wanting more as the flow comes in. i would start out with some tires and perhaps new shocks. that will wipe your slate clean for a while. take off those running boards if you have them and start having some fun. save up for those big mods like bumper(s), winch, lights, lockers and there is so much freakin more! have fun and again, welcome ~KyLe

I think a Detroit soft locker is a good buy if you're gonna offroad it.
I go on a lot of trails with Marc P and he's got one in his second gen, I don't think he has much of a lift, maybe just shocks. His truck is able to tackle a lot of tough terrain with marginal tires.

My 3 favorite mods have been the Detroit Soft locker, the Downey HD springs with new shocks, and switching to the Aisin manual locking hubs up front. I also like my sliders, although try as I might, I have not used them yet.

Check out the pics

First off welcome to the board!

Second of all, I have three words for you. DOWNEY HD COILS! That is number one. Number two would be some new Bilstein shocks, third would be some clear corners and bumper lenses and then a 1" Roger Brown body lift.

After that you will have a nice rig!

Fink

Either way I would do the Downey coils first thing, I got them put on a little less than 2 weeks after getting my rig and that is still the best thing I have ever done for my truck!

here's a hub link. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...ght=aisin+hubs

i just got mine from toyota_parts_dude here on the forum last week. rebuilt 'em, put them on with some new gaskets from toyota. it makes the steering about 30-40% easier, and a tighter turn. it will save wear and tear on your cv boots. and it seems to accelerate a little bit better, too.

the first mod i did was downey HD springs with doetsch tech shocks. too HD for me, so i switched to the regular downey springs. and monroe sensatracs. a much more streetable ride. still has the 1.5 lift.

Welcome to Yotatech. I would go with OME coils with OME shocks on the rear. Can get at extremeoff-road.com talk to Mike, good guy and member here. Go with Bilstiens, OME, or Rancho shocks up front. Get the OME steering stabilizer, direct fit or Rancho with kit. Either will make for a huge inprovement over stock. Then get new tires, bridgestone Dueler A/T's, great tires. These are my suggestions to start out with. Hope they help.
