Checked out another 1st gen. while in Seattle.
1989 v6 5spd only 82k. Lady is the orig. owner and didn't know if head gasket recall was done.
She's never had the rear top off either.

Al, just get the VIN # and take it to the local Toyota dealer. Ask them if the recall on the head gasket was done. They should run it through a computer and tell you or not if it is done. I am not sure of the years that were recalled, but I did just this and they told me mine had been replaced already! :beaver:

They don't give you the text of the recall, but the title will come up. Also service bulletins.

For the 89 it shows:

also shows 163 "service bulletins"

These are usually diagnostic aids for mechanics (common problem, but no recall), revised procedures, extend warrantee on certain repairs, etc

If I was still working I could print the text of these from out from the shop computer
