My 30A Fusible Link AM2 blew on my truck. It's an 89 v6 SR5 with a v6. What would cause his?

The amperage drawn through the link exceeded its ability to carry the load.
I believe that one is an ignition source - goes to the ignition key switch and then to the fuse panel, if I remember correctly. Not likely to be an accessory, unless you or someone else installed something and connected it to this circuit without a fuse. It is possible however that enough things were on at the same time to overload the 30a link yet blow no fuses... Hard to say. First I would ck the fuse block for blown fuses.
Have you replaced it yet? One trick is to replace it *temporarily* with a fuse holder, then if the fuse blows you can replace fuses (might need a pile of fuses) and troubleshoot. Be sure to put a new link in though when you're done. Hopefully you don't have a short in a harness - hard to find those, thankfully rare though.

Thanks Phil.
The truck does have an aftermarket prestige alarm system in it, that was installed by one of the previous owners (I'm the 6th owner).
I didn't get the owners manual for the alarm system, and it does lock the the doors, flash the headlights, chirp, and who know what else when armed.
I'll try to disconnect it and see if that helps. The replacement FL is looking blueish already!
I did see some cheesy power tap in's at the fuse panel on the drivers kick panel.
There's a JVC CD player, and the power antenna is broken. I don't know if it's even hooked up. When it warms up a little outside, (27 right now in NJ) I'll go try to get a look see!
