What in the world is this???

04 runner, rear compartment, behind wrench.

I found this clear tube that was just hanging there, not connected to anything. THen I took the wrench out, and there was this black female connection. So I plugged it in. Talked to some other people, they say their tube is not plugged in either. ANyone know what this is, or if it should be plugged into the black tube????

Looks like the rear window washer fluid tube, but, I could be wrong.

Either a rear washer hose or some sort of a drain hose.

That's where you put your Amsoil synthetic blinker fluid, nets you like 8 hp!

LOL - Good one chemist.
Swoopeno, If that thing wasn't connected, your washer fluid might have been leaking all over the place (in that compartment). Ever use your rear washer fluid? - Mine was plugged in. Strange yours was not.

That is certainly not washer. On the 3rd gen the tube runs along the driver side cargo window and just hangs into the air vent behind the bumper. It probably comes off the sunroof.

Just checked mine. I doubt it is for the rear washer. The tube is too large in diameter, and the black female fitting it goes into is too loose a fit to be able to provide any lift to fluid. It looks more like some type of vent or drain. Can't find any reference to it in the manual, so far.

My guess it's a drain tube also to drain water from an area where it's prone to collect;most hatchback cars have them on the sides under the hatch.

Mine was connected and had some water spots on the inside. Where it goes, I can't tell though...
