What is the widest 33 tire I can fit on stock '00 4Runner 16's?
My '00 needs new tires...I thought well maybe since I am wanting to upgrade to 33's on my rig I can just put the wheels and tires off of my rig(32 bfg ta ko an 99 taco wheels) on the 00 and use the 5 star 16's off of it and mount some 33's to them(I like the 16's style better anyway!) What is the widest 33 I can go with? Would a 12.50 work? Thanks!

Th widest you'll be able to go is a 285/75/16. Which is only like 11.50" wide so you probably won't like it. With some trimming and a body lift you could probably do some 305/70/16's, which is closer to a true 33x12.50. Look at my site and others, as most of us run 285's.

Ive got 33x12.50R15s on my runner, and my rims are much wider than stock. so its possible to go quite a bit wider if your willing to trim sheet metal and pinch welds. most people arent willing to do so, but i bought the tires, so i had to do what was necessary to run them.
since you have the 16's, i say go with the 285's and if your're willing to trim, then try the 305's.

You can put a 12.50 width tire on those rims just fine, but to clear them on your vehicle you're gonna need a 2-2.5" suspension lift, 1" bodylift and some trimming. A 285 (11.50" width) will fit with the suspension lift and w/o the bodylift, but will need some trimming for offroad use.

Alot has to depend on what back spacing your rims are. If you are running stock rims. they are only 16x7 not 16x8. You need a 16x8 at least to run 12.50's (305's)

An 8" wheel will make the 12.50 tire wear normal, but it is not required. The 7" wheel will run the 12.50 tire just fine and will be less likely to lose a bead at low psi.
Oh yeah, if you plan on running the 12.50's on stock wheels, you will need wheel spacers to clear the a-arms.
