The best I've ever had was just under 24mpg. That was all freeway at about 65-70 mph. Lately I've been struggling to get 20 mpg... think I need to change the airfilter and do another oil change.

Speaking of Winter Blend........

If you can find some non-ethanol, try it........

My mileage has increased about 2 MPG but it cost about $.15 more per gallon and is not readily available..........

Damn this thread is old.
Winter time i'm at about 16mpg. put in a new o2 sensor (the last was original!!!) hopefully will get abit better...
Only non-ethanol fuel around here is 91 octane... which costs $.50 more a gallon ($.13 more a litre) than 87 octane... not worth it unless supercharged...

The non-ethonol is about $.20 a gallon higher here and not many locations have it...BUT...I get between 2 and 3 miles per Gallon better Mileage. So when you run the numbers miles per dollar increase. I can only believe that my engine performance has increased.................

Hey dude, i'd love to believe you, but know it's not possible, especially in the winter.
s-runners (5vzfe 2wd pickups) barely get that in arizona (where it's alot hotter = better mileage)
So you're saying you get 553km out of a tank of gas... LOL... that's what my 4cyl celica gets....
Maybe your wife filled up your tank half way through and didn't tell you.. .LOL...

Well, his math is off. Miles/gallons
My tank is 18.5 gallons. If DewDog used 18 of those gallons and went 344 miles the math is 344/18=19.1 MPG

I suppose he could have only used 13 gallons to go 344 miles. That equals about 27 mpg but WOW!

I just wanted to edit becasue I see that he may have filled-up before he used all the gas.

Just a maintenence note: I've been neglecting my MAF sensor (I should know better since I have a K&N filter). Anyways, cleaned it and went from 14-15 mpg to 16-17

That's what I get in the summer time. One tank of gas I get 550 kilometer = 341.75 mile. My math could be wrong too. I will check the MPG when I fill it up again, to see what it is in the winter, should be alot lower. No wife either lol.

I got 21+mpg coming back from South Texas the other week while doing 80-85. It didn't make any sense at all. Maybe the 31" tires make it more efficient at higher speeds? Damndest thing.

Lets see I get about 275 to 3/4 of my tank (I really don't like going lower than that because gas stations are pretty spread apart in my neck of the desert). I did the math that 3/4 tank=13.87gal and that gives me around 19mpg on the highway. In town I get about 225 so that equals out to around 16mpg. I have a 4cyl stick in my 4x4 Runner . Is there anything I can do to plus that up a bit? It has a K&N FIPK but other than that stock. I seem to remember that I could unplug the ecu and reset the air/fuel sensor calculation but I don't remember how to do it.

It was kind of a surprise. I have a 99 Tacoma 2.7 prerunner and she does very well on gas. I shouldn't have been surprised though because a 4runner weighs a lot more.

If you are driving pure highway (100km/h on the 401 with no traffic) i could see that happening.
(i just got 400km to 50 litres doing straight highway this weekend, usually city driving i get 330-340km / 50 litres in the winter).

How many liters are you using to get 550km? You may be using imperial MPG rather than US MPG....
