Well it's all relative. The fact is Toyota has been making 2wd 4Runners for a long time. Even back in the day the best selling vehicles were the 2wd Toyota PU's right? Work trucks. I have no problem with a 2wd prerunner Tacoma with a cabover (campershell, snugtop).

The first 4Runners were essentially factory-cabover pu's so... it's all schemantics and name-games. No use in debating something like what should be. Fact is there are plenty of 2wd everything-suv and has been for a long time.

It is very common in America for suv's to be used as tow rigs (campers, boats, equestrian). That is a 2wd capability where 4wd wasn't necessary for alot of consumers- the power/frame-on/ rugged enclosed space was. Maybe that is where the 2wd suv was born.

The SUV was a natural extension of the PU- a 4wd station wagon, which is why it's still called a wagon today and was labeled that way for a long time.

Anyway, good luck with selling your truck. It might be a bit tougher in your area but the right buyer will come along.
