For Toyotas, getting real V-6 gears is some times hard and Precision and Yukon the best. Cut at the same place by the same folks.

I would call Slee, ORS and Alatao Auto here in Colorado.

Drive in, drive out service for just gears, no lockers, expect around 2 grand.

If you invite us to your place to pull the diffs and just drop those, plan around 350 in labor per diff.

Gears at around 200 per diff, MIK's at around 120 per diff.

Get all the stuff from the place the does the install. The first two places listed do not look fondly on installing stuff you got elsewhere.

If you do wanna pull the diffs before hand, to save some $ in install labor, I would be willing to come over to your place and give you a hand. Would also give me a chance to see your fancy new bumper.

No stop moding your truck and give me the money to mod mine so i can catch up....!!!

But we could pull them and get them done but i am sure we can find some one who can help us install them i don' think its too hard. What size are you going with?
4.88 or 5.29?

The only prob with Yukon is they tend to rebadge gears and sell other companies gears under the Yukon name...look at Bamachems front (I think maybe rear) gears are diff then his other ones even tho they're both Yukons. They had a prob a little while back with some of the gears they sold ended up being crappy genuines or made overseas ones.

Ric, hey man check out porc (performance offroad center) you can order your gears from them and i know a guy who will do the gears for pretty cheap. Let me know if you want to get in contact with him and see what he can do. He did mine for a decent price....with labor (dropping the truck off) and all the parts...it was somewhere around $900.

it's mostly labor. for all the work of pulling the diffs, stripping them, setting the gears, checking the pattern and adjusting, and re-installing. pretty labor and skill-intensive...

i know its intensive labor, but i figured it would be around 2-300 per diff. but now calculating the gears, master gear kit and what not, thats probably right. maybe a little high, but still.

No problems at all. They have been in since may. I dont think i will have any problems either. He has been a toyota mechanic for like 16 years, and has done many many of the tacoma gear installs in colorado. You should just wait until you see he tacoma and his wife's runner. Tacoma is solid axle, almost like a crawler. His wife's runner was on 39's for a while. He's a good guy and stands by his work too.
