oh, anybody have any ideas on what type of exhaust i could get for the supra or 3.4L engine that would give me a deep throaty truck sound

IMHO putting a Chebby motor in a Toyota is like putting catsup on chineese food
Are you really serious about this enging swap or are you just asking questions? You said that you wanted to stay away from the 3.4l because then you would want a supercharger. But then you go on to ask about a turbo set up on a Supra I-6. Do you realize what goes into making a N/A car into a turbo? It can be quite expensive. My brother spent close to $6000 before his Suburu RS ran correctly with the new turbo. You will need the turbo, all the plumbing, waste gate, blow off valve, intercooler, stand-alone computer, harness, labor if you can't do it yourself. And before you do all that you have to convert your Runner to accomodate the new engine. Plus you need to buy the new engine. This is going to be a very expensive proposition. I would bet that you will spend a minimum of $9,000 to do the whole thing correctly. It would be MUCH cheaper to get a supercharged 3.4 and put it into the truck.

Tomus....very well put...plus I want to see someone do the 3.4L and report back on it. Although my '94 3.0L is relatively low mileage 96k (for a yota)..... the yearning for more power is slowly driving me insane.
I'm thinking about 1. either getting a Infiniti G35c and then doing the 3.4L + SC swap (dedicating the 4R to fun mods and trails) or 2. doing the 3.4L +SC swap and saving the rest of my money.....like the prudent part of my brain says. It's a constant battle.....

i am pretty serious about this engine swap but will probably wait around a year to get started. right now im jus looking for ideas from other toyota enthusiasts to get me pointed in the direction i need to be heading. and so is the 3.4L swap going to be the cheapest to get the xtra power or is it going to be the 7MGTE, or.....

As for the diff and tranny comments--you can safely run 700+ hp through the V6 R150F tranny and even the 320 hp twin turbo Supra uses an IRS version of the 8" V6 4x4 differential. I rode in a 786 hp Supra three weeks ago--

if you do all the work and can get the whole junked supra cheap, it can be done for as little as $1200, for a 7mgte. can be done even cheaper for a 5mge, although it puts out no where near the power (145 hp- 160 hp, depending on the year.)

if i was ever to wedge a v8 into a toyota, i'd find a 302. distributor's up front, and you can gut one from an 80s rustang with EFI
of course, you could always wait for the toyota smallblock pushrod crate engine they're coming out with this year...

Are there places that can do this (since im not much of a engine mechanic) lol and how much do you think they will charge? I was thinking about keeping it with Toyota maybe a tundra or a new runner engine.
My runner's engine is great now, but in the future im not sure how good it will hold up mainly because im pushing 200,000.
Does anyone have an estimate on cost of labor and cost of one of those engines? also is this a risky operation? does putting a new engine get you another 200-300k miles?

Have to ask the question--are you planning on wheeling or drag racing? If it were me and i was into wheeling--i would 1. Want the least amount of moving parts possible 2. Want an engine with low RPM torque, not peaky turbo power 3. Want a motor that is somewhat easy to diagnoise problems on and fix. Turbos and supercharges can sure clog up an engine bay fast!!

outside the box...
the coolest swaps I have ever seen have been a V8 Lexus UZ swap into an older 4-Runner and a swap out of a diesel VW Jetta into an 88 yota pickup. I'm always outside the box... sorry about that, but the boundaries are there to be explored.
