What does this melted hose do?

***SOLVED***

I got home from work to find smoke coming from under my vehicle near the rear tire. I looked underneath and found liquid dripping over the axle and a melted hose. In the photos it's the ribbed hose with arrows pointing to it. Photos with two arrows show the point where it melted from. The liquid dripping appears to have a green tint. Coolant?

edit: the liquid may have only looked green on my driveway. it smells like tranny fluid.

It starts at the top of the gas tank. I think it might be the fuel evaporation vent tube from looking at diagrams. But what is all the liquid? Maybe two separate issues I noticed at the same time.

It is brake fluid. I assumed it was coming from the melted hose, but that's a separate issue. My brake light came on during my morning commute. I had someone get under there while I pushed on the brake and the rubber hose for the rear brakes is cracked.
