What Do I Need To Retrofit Ca Emmisions '99-'02
Hi,
i am really hoping that there might be someone on here that can tell me what i need to change a '99-'02 4runner from federal emmissions standards to California emissions standards.
I already know that the exhaust in ca has two cat converters, but i have no idea about the sensors or anything else.
thank you!

Why do you need to convert it? I think that only applies to vehicles sold there. If you buy it somewhere else or move to that state you should be fine. Is my understanding wrong?

Yea, I think you should be fine. I had my 88' Heep erh I mean Jeep which I bought in Las Vegas down here in San Diego all the way til 2001 when I bought my Runner. Never had a problem with CA emissions (except when my Cat. Conv. died).

i know that ca requires the ca emissions hardware. if i brough a fed emissions car here and it didn't pass the visual inspection (done everytime you smog) i'd be screwed. just want to get everything in a row before i spend 20k on a 4runner.
thanks

Like call the emmsissions people and ask them about it. I am sure they can guide you much better then us who are just taking a SWAG at it.
