Want some Subwoofer input for 91' PU
I am looking to mount s sub or pair of subs into storage space under the rear seats in my 91" extended cab pickup. Right now I am leaning towards a single dual-voice coil sub and making a custom mount to replace the factory access door.
Anyone done this yet? It appears as there is enough cu ft of space to get a respectable sound out of it.
Pics and advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

It will be loud & clear, but those doors may make it sound cheap from rattle.
Or you can build a box for those subs with some bandpass and place some cardboard behind your license plates to reduce and rattle.
Heres my setup:
Its just a tad messy, I havent gotten around to hiding the cables. They'll soon be hidden tonight under the carpet.

A chill just ran down my spine...
kids...
My wife wants'em, me and my car dont...
They do have space saving subs that fit right in with your interior and don't kill all of your room, but they usaly only accomodate 10" subs.
One idea would be to buy two 10" subs each in one of those space saver boxes made for hatch backs and place one under the driver side seat and one under the passanger. It'll be right where you need to hear them, and they sure as hell might give your butt cheeks a good tingly feeling after a short drive with your stero pumping.
Tingly buttcheeks and the word pumping in the same sentance and no dirty joke... heh

I tried looking for them on ebay quickly, couldnt find anything 4runner specific at this time, but THEY do make them.
To give you an idea just check out the auction for yourself:

Or if you wanna be funny:

The fake Nos bottle with a sub in it!
They sound like poop, but what can you expect from a tiny sub in a plastic encloser that looks like a NOS tank... 0o0o0o0o

I have two JBL 6x9's in the side panels, and they sound pretty good, but below like 500 hz they just don't have the low end. I am going to try a 10" sub mounted flush and carpeted under the driver side passenger fold down seat and see what that does. Will be interesting.

It is possible to do. I have a 10" polk momo sub behind the driver. It takes a bit of trimming away some of the metal to get it in perfect but it fits. I just cut out a piece of mdf that shape to mount the sub and then sealed the whole thing with Tuff Stuff. Still havent finished mine yet though. It does rattle some in the cab so i am planning to put sound deadening material in. After that and making a stealth looking cover for the sub, it will be perfect i think. Just make sure to look for a sub that works well in small enclosures. Good luck, curious to see how yours turns out. If i ever get mine done I will post some pics

No worries. Fits great. Mine is behind the driver and the amp is under the drivers seat. There are a couple guys who have done this, there's a thread not too far down from about a week ago. Check this pic
