VSV Location? Any pics?
02 4Runner 112K 4WD Sport. I tried searching, but to no avail I couldn't find pics of the VSV location. I have a FSM but it only gives general location. Anyone that has done a DIY can either describe the location exactly? A pic would be better. There are so many hoses and wires.
I have a P0440 code and the gas cap was kinda loose. It may be that, but I may have overfilledthe gas but I think that causes a different code according to the FSM?
What did you guys use to clean / flush charcoal canister?? I will probably want to replace the VSV and clean the charcoal canister if the light pops on again and the gas cap it tight. I checked underneath, but no loose hoses and I can't see any damage to the cannister.

it is should be on the driver's side, somewhere near the brake master cylinder.
sorry, i can't give you a specific location as i'm just basing it on the diagram. i have a TDIC which has a different vsv setup

So, to get the truth, I called another dealer. They told me everything opposite to the first! WTF!? The 2nd dealership parts department told me that the one by the charcoal canister is the one they replace the most but by far way more gas caps go bad. What service said and parts said coincided. I guess I know who to trust now.
Question: Do you have a diagram of the one by the charcoal canister?
I will go get a new gas cap today only $18. I asked them if they would test mine on the truck, it cost $25 Itiots.

One of the VSVs is located right in front of the canister. The other 2 are located under the hood on the inside of the driver side front fender. It has a green tag that says "EVAP SERVICE PORT". Follow that toward the driver side fender and there you have the VSV for CCV and VSV for EVAP. As far as the VSV for VPS, you have to remove the canister to replace it. The biggest hint I can give is that there is a clip that is hard to see toward the front of the vehicle. You can see it if you look straight up directly between the crossmember on the frame and the rear diff / axle. Use a LONG flathead screwdriver to pop it off. It is right next to the furthest forward bolt holding the bracket with the canister on to the underside of the vehicle.
