VSC/A-TRAC Warning Lights

either way the code will pop back up until you clear it w/ the obdII scan tool.
thus it's easier to just find out which codes are being triggered and then clean/repair the item and then clear the codes
good luck

ah, i did not know that. i just assumed that once i cleaned the MAF, the CEL and other lights would go out. that is, of course, if that is what's causing the problem to begin w/.
thanks goodtimes!

I am starting to remember something else. After I cleaned the whole engine bay, I had those problems. Now when I was cleaning the contacts, I got to the MAF and cleaned it stuck it back in, no click. So I pulled it and with a closer look I noticed the gasket on the harness was warped. I trimmed some out and stuck it back in and heard the click. I cleared with my OBDII scanner, and no more problems.

Broknlgs, no none of the lights were on. I'll drive it this weekend and on Mon take it to Autozone. still can't figure why it came on in first place though. I got the 'click' when putting it back.

i just returned from Autozone.
My Code is P1135.
I've since removed the MAF Sensor and cleaned it. To me, it did not look that dirty, but, i cleaned it anyway. I found a site detailing the removal and cleaning; however, my MAF Sensor did not look anything like the one pictured. Mine looks similar to a match, but metal. there is some sort of substance at the top. What is that?

anyone w/ a 2001 have a pic of their MAF? i took a pic of mine and will attempt to get it posted shortly.
i've also been reading where replacing the O2 sensor may help. i was checking out URD and noticed that they list 2 O2 sensor part #'s. would both be needed?
thanks in advance,
brian

citykid - r u saying that once AutoZone pulled the code, the CEL should've went out; regardless of whether or not i cleaned the MAF?

no, i believe the lights go out when the computer is reset after the problem is fixed. resetting the computer before it is fixed SHOULD make the lights come back on when it re-senses the same problem.

Okay, code P0446 came up.
"The PCM has determined that a malfunction exists in the electrical circut for the vent control in the evaporative emmision control system"
1-Purge or vent solenoid defective
2-Possible blockage in vapor canister or ECAP line
3-Check connector and wiring.
I have no idea what this means or how to attack it any suggestion? And your right, the code didn't clear. I must have mistaken that for the obdii that would clear out the lights. And I do not have one.
