Volant cool air intake?

I found this tonight. I never knew this company existed. Seems to be a reasonable price but the engine sizes are a bit weird for the model years listed. Anyone ever hear of this stuff?

This looks like the right part for our application:

dont waste your money getting an air intake kit since youve already got the SC, just ask gadget.

But from what I can see in the picture, probably one of the best looking intake systems Ive seen.

Yes, I have heard of them. I've even mentioned them before on newsgroups and ODW...

They are a spinoff from TruckPerformance. Apparently, some of their employees used to work for K&N. I've spoken at length with them about their stuff. I think in the grand scheme of things, their intakes are the nicest ones out there, but I still wouldn't buy one.

I was considering purchasing an intake from them before I developed the Silencer Mod.

By the way TruckPerformance kicks Performance Products @ss IMHO.

I just don't see any advantage over the stock airbox. Well unless it comes with a cool sticker or something...

Do you actually have to put the sticker on your rig to get the horsepower gain?

If it is a JET ECU upgrade all you get is the sticker....

Let's not forget the 4 days that you can't drive your truck because you had to send the ECU to them for "reprograming".

What I would like to find out about these Volant units is do they pull in air from the fender hole where the elbox was or from where? Can you shed any light on that JB?

Yea, it replaces the entire airbox/intake tubing system and draws air in through the fender. Like the stock setup, but WITHOUT the restrictive elbow.

Excellent, thanks! So would you say the airbox volume is more than OEM?
And if it is pictured on your truck then have you noticed any difference in power and/or sound? MPG?

OK...need more info here. What does this setup use for an air filter? Can you use a stock filter (or aftermarket) or do you have to buy a whole new one?
