Drives me nuts sometimes, you kinda hope nothing happens and trust humanity but eventually someone will screw you. I decided to get a Glove box lock for my 1st Gen for when the top is off, not bullet proof but a visual deterrent and stops people from just reaching in and grabbing my faceplate. Not going to stop somebody with time, privacy and double 'y' chromosome brute force though.

Just found today the lock is finally on the way after a ton of trouble, was starting to think it was a mythical item.

Alright, i just had to tell people cause im pissed

I was in Monroe to go see a movie at the theaters. About 5PM the movie got out and went to go home. but when i got to my truck i noticed the passenger side triangle window was shattered, and when i looked inside, my radio was gone!! not to mention when the person went to take it out, apparently they desided to rip my dash apart too. luckly that was the only thing that was stolen. at least i still got my truck. so now i got my window ducttaped over the big gap and i need to go find a replacement. stupid people, why the hell do they feel the need to steal a cheap ($150) radio? i hate theifs, basterds.

Sorry, i just had to vent my anger...

P.S. they also stole my mechanics gloves i had! GHA! stupid thiefs.
Wait, so the 35" swampers didn't scare em off? I would think your truck must be pretty high, and that alone would make me too lazy to climb up in there and try to steal somethin

Ok sorry, but that does suck.

Or the cutting off of fingers. That'd sure make me not ever want to steal something. Even if they don't learn their lesson, sooner or later they're not gonna have any fingers to steal with. Works both ways.

That sucks! I had the horrible experience of waking up on Christmas morning and not seeing my '86 Extracab 4WD Prerunner that I had parked in front of my parent's house. It still had the presents in it! The police found it 3 months later where the thieves had left it the whole time abandoned in an apartment building parking lot. By then the insurance company had already offered me a settlement. I wasn't sure if I was madder for the truck being stolen or that it had not been found before the insurance company paid it off. I finally gave up in trying to get it back because there was no way for me to find out what mechanical damage had been done to it at that point. The best "car alarm" I remember was the one in the James Bond movie where the thieves get blown up when they try to steal his Lotus. BLAM! HA HA...

This is why I want a car alarm before I invest anymore into the interior of my truck. I would not only be ticked off at the fact that they stole my stuff but they would probably destroy the dash. I've put in countless hours making brackets and finding stuff to fix the things that the previous owner messed up on the dash, particuarly the center dash piece where the stereo is. I want corey's alarm

I had my mustang broken into, I think the door was unlocked though. The reason why I think this is because when the power lock stopped working if you closed the door too hard it would unlock. Pissed me off cause I left to go out in the woods with my friends in a hurry. Didn't feel like running in the house to put my wallet up so I didn't lose it I put it in the mustang. Didn't steal my stereo because the automatic shifter pushed almost up against the face. I couldn't even take a cd out in park. They did make out with the 150$ that I was going to pay my insurance with.

That is a brilliant idea. Guess who just got elected to run the Department of Retribution!

Fingers??? Heck in saudi arabia they still chop off hands. I vote for that. Maybe texas can start it, and other states adopt it?

My dad and I thought that monster garage should make the thief proof car. They could have some serious fun with that! Like a lifting arm that crushes their jewels, and gives them an atomic wedgie on the send off just for good measure.

We all want a piece of the idiots who steal stuff but the figthing back part is just as likely to hurt you as it is them. That wouldn't be too cool in my book. Best idea would be to mount video inside your vehicle so that any dumbass thief that does get in, will be caught on tape. Video is a thief's worst enemy!

For heaven's sake how are America's dumbest criminals caught on FOX?
Yep......video!.....sounds like a winner to me.

Video of what ? some crackhead which no one cares about- then what if he does get arrested by chance? he's out in 24hrs in someone else's 4runner--we are too liberal and weak and it shows. I say defend yourself and your rights and yer truck dammit

I put in an AutoMate Alarm system (DEI)that works with factory remotes, I was anal about losing the rear window button on my remote and the AutoMate protects everything including glass without being too sensitive. 299 installed.

they tried doing it to my tacoma too....but my alarm was set off and my pager activated as if anyone tampers with the locks and the actuaers move wihtout power then it sets teh alarm off so bascily just before they had chance to actualy open door all they saw was me flying accross parking lot straight for them......enough to scare them away =] they jumped into a car and took off.....

The bait system is what they use in Newark and NYC.It has drastically reduced the car theft rate in those areas. The criminals are very aware that 4runners and all type of vehicles have been planted through out the cities to trap the thief inside cars. Its a wonderful feeling to see the car thief trapped like a rat in a mouse cage. They can't even break the window to get out. They see a car that is parked all by its lonesome and sometimes near other cars, the thief true to his unsavory nature can't resist,he suveys the area then jumps in and starts the car, little does he know that starting the car actually locks the doors. He drives off and the car DIES out about 100 yards down the street, when suddenly the police swarm in and handcuffs the scumbag. Seattle Washington should put this tactic in play. It would change the car theft rate for sure. KILL the THIEVES!!!

Wow... My friend got the oppurtunity you all seek.

I just got to hang out out with one of my friends today I hadn't seen in weeks... He told me a story I had to tell you guys. Now mind you, he had had his car broken into twice before, parked in his neighborhood.

He (18) was sitting down to dinner with his mom and a friend when the friend (also 18) said "whats that out by your car?" He sprang up ran outside, saw his passenger car door open and three kids (16-17) running up the street. He chased after them in his socks and got hold of one of them. He pinned him down with a wrestling move while the other two sprinted away (though they looked back and saw the other on the ground so they dropped the stuff). The kid started struggling and as he did, a pack of smokes, lighter, and a crack pipe fell out of his pockets, along with a knife. My friend yelled for his friend to come out and help screaming "he has a knife!" The friend runs out. Gets the knife from the kid. He runs back in telling the mom to call the cops. Then runs back out to give some more help. Then one of the kids who had run off comes back and pleads to let the other kid up. "C'mon just let him go, you got your stuff back, let him go. You don't have to call the cops, just let him go." (hell no!) My friend then says something, and as the other friend looks down, one of the thieves throws a sucker punch across the jaw. Big mistake. The guy he hit was a wrestler in highschool, easily 200 lbs. The guy just wails on the thief, punching him in the face and wrestling him to the ground. The kids face is bleeding massively. Then the other kid who had taken off running comes back with another friend in a car (this thief was the unconscious guy's younger bro). The friend in the car also tells them to back off and let the kid up, and when my friend doesn't back down, he pulls out an aluminum bat. As he is approaching with the bat, the big wrestler yanks that bat from his hand. The two friends try and wake up the guy on the ground and try to pull him to the car, he is groggy and gets up, then as his friends are getting in the car, he slips and hits his head on the bumper of the car, knocking himself out again. The two friends take off (for whatever reason, maybe they thought he was in, maybe they didn't want to get caught with drugs). They start driving up the street when four squad cars cut them off. The cops come out guns drawn screaming for them to get out of the car right then. They raise their hands and are cuffed.

After the questioning is all done the cops shake the hand of the wrestler and tell him that they wish they could beat some of these punks down like he had, but just can't. They said my friends did good job controlling the situation.

So how does it end? Let's start with what was stolen: An old green jacket, a leather jacket, a cd, and a cup... yes a cup... The kid who was pinned down got charged with trespassing, burglary/theft, possessing drugs, and having a blood alcohol of .18 He went to juvie. The kid who came back with a friend got charged with theft, trespassing (and possibly taking illegal drugs, they had to run the tests later). He went to juvie. The kid with the bat got charged as an adult since he was 18, though he was only charged with conspiracy and aiding (I think). So he's in jail. The guy who was knocked out went to the hospital with a skull fracture, a broken nose, a broken face, broken jaw, two black eyes and a concussion. He's also getting charged with trespassing, theft, assault, and some other things. My two friends? Nothing against them. My friend who pinned the guy down never struck him. The other wrestler, the big guy, nothing happened to him either. It was self defense since the other guy hit him first.

So there's atleast one less thief, hopefully 4.

High crime is one of the biggest reasons why more and more people are relocating to gated communities.
