Velcro'ing the Visor - Radar Detector
To sum things up I have a Valentine One mounted to the visor in my 02 4Runner. The visor, as most of you know isn't the most stable visor in the world and tends to flop up and down A LOT with the detector mounted to it. In order to hold the visor stable the only non permanent solution I can think of is to do a hook and loop velcro on the headliner and visor. Thus helping stabilize the visor. I was thinking of using the sticky velcro but I am unsure if it will actually stick to the visor and headliner material? Any other ideas on how to stabilize the visor? I wish they were like other cars that have visors that crisply snap in place and hold solid.. but no we got floppy visors lol. Thanks!

As a fellow V1 owner (beliver) I have to wonder why you aren't just using the suction mounts provided with the V1? I would think that you would want to keep the detector as high as possible, but not too far out of your field of vision. I keep mine tucked right below my rear view, so that it has the best position to see out the back window and still be decently high up the windshield.
As far as haveing the cups hold? They have never let me down. Even in whoops.

Velcro would look ghetto, IMO. Sounds like it's a custom mount time for you. Or, why not just use the suction cups? You can still mount it right by the visor.
And speaking of, I gotta get my V1 hard wired this weekend...
EDIT: Lumino beat me to it.

I mount my V1 with the clip pointing toward the rear of the car, and the front of the clip on the front of the visor close to the windshield. Then I have my garage door opener mounted on the rear edge of the visor (the edge of the visor closest to the passenger) with the clip of the opener on the bottom of the visor, and the controller part above the visor. This setup allows the V1 to be supported along the front edge of the visor, which is very solid as long as the visor is mounted in the clip on the edge. The remote under the visor keeps it level, otherwise the V1 would point too far up toward the sky. I also have the remote display mounted on my steering column. It is pretty much invisible to anyone outside the car, but it is easy to see the alerts with the remote display. A picture would be much better - I'll run snap a camera phone pic real quick... -Clark

It also depends on your elevation, too (compared to the radar). I was coming into a remote town, which was about 10 miles away (per the mileage sign). I was coming down off of a mountain and Ka was going off, pointing forward and getting stronger. Could not see a cop. Finally, got into the town and see the cop right on main street in the middle of the town. It's incredible how sensitive these things are. I don't know how many thousands of dollars worth of tickets I would've racked up if it weren't for my V1.

i was thinking about this as well, but too many other things are in line to be done before i tackle this one. i was thinking of fastening a snap button to the visor and headliner some how but i haven't researched it yet. i don't know if that would just rip out of the headliner, but i think a snap button would secure it really well. if i ever get around to it, i'll let you know how it goes!
