Utimate 3rd gen?
Here is a good question I think... what would make up the ultimate 3rd gen runner??
I have been thinking and thinking about this, and have come up with what I think makes the ultimate 3rd gen:
Starting point:
Any year, 96-02, Im not picky about this one.... has to be a 3.4L has to be a 5 speed and has to have an E locker, 4.30 gears prefer.... In either Black, Green, or stellar blue
Mod list:
Engine:
SC kit and all the goodies that make it work properly and safe for the engine
Headers and 2.5" exhaust system
CAI
Suspension:
Ultimate, SAS and enough lift to clear 35s.... Gears front and rear ( 4.88s ) and a front locker
Second to that, Tundra coils and 2 top up spacers for front, FZJ-80 coils for rear, OME shocks, 1" - 2" BL to fit aprox 285/75/R16 sized tires on FZJ-80 rims, drop panhard bar, 1" diff drop, taco manual locking hub swap, Aussie locker in front. Also tundra brakes up front.
Exterior:
TJM T17 bumper
winch
Sliders
99+ headlights
01+ tail lights
Clear corners
Satoshi mod
Hood scoop
Hilux Surf emblem
Interior:
Good quality sound system, nice deck, great speakers all run off an amp, and a 10" sub.
GPS
I think that sums it up for me.... So what do you guys think "makes" the ultimate 3rd gen???
Cheers
Bob

Eric's is not far behind. You should just buy Eric's b/c by the time you make your own ultimate 3rd gen, you would have spent way more than Eric's asking price.

I believe the guy above, Greg, was banned from this forum for being a piece of ˟˟˟˟˟. All I can say is that if I run into him on the trail I'm going to beat his a$$. Sorry ahout the hijack but those pics reminded me of him and I had to vent.
My only new years resolution for '06 was to finish up my 4Runner, then I'll have the ultimate 3rd gen.........just kidding

Well all the solid axle 3rd gens are pretty gnarly...
www.sonoransteel.com and www.hunt4steve.com and cubuffs is awesome!
http://community.webshots.com/user/marck231
then there is another guy on Pirate with another green SA rig which has full coil-over rear.

i don't think there exists a 3rd gen currently that'd i'd call ultimate. but there are some nice ones with elements of such a rig. i'm talking black, sc 3.4, crawler, coilover sas, black beadlocked 37 mtrs, flat belly, double locked, diamond axle housings with some beefy shafts, internal roll cage, tundra brakes, satoshi'd , lightforce 240s, winched t15, etc.... that gives you an idea of my current "ultimate" 3rd gen
