I have the same oil pan...but I just empty it into milk jugs (USE FUNNEL).
Do I pay to recycle? Nope...I just drop em off at Valvoline and run
Dont see why I should pay them when they get money for recycling my oil. The old house I lived in had a quarterly pickup though. You could put anything outside your house and they would come and get it as long as you labled what it was...good city tax dollars in work there.

I put the oil pan on my workbench...then a milk jug on a stool w/ funnel underneath it (oil pan on workbench). Slowly lift the back of the pan and hold the milk jug/funnel. Not much of a mess. I have a massive funnel too to prevent splash.

Tornado fuel saver. Has to be good for something. Just stick it in a funnel.
the vortex action will allow the oil to flow quickly and smoothly with no turbulence.

I use a 5 gal kerosene container. It's got handles on the backside and top so you can bungee it down pretty well. I use the garbage bag trick too. I know, it's a kerosene container. But I marked it "Used Oil". It lasts for about 4 oil changes. The autozone guy made a remark that it was the cleanest container he had ever seen.

Hey how about using your pan and transfer into a gas can. I think the spout on your pan might into the filler neck of the gas can. The gas can in a milk crate would ride well in the back of your runner as well.

Good idea, but I think my intention is to get one catch-all container. I don't want to transfer from this stupid thing any more. In fact, I would like to take it out in the desert, light it on fire, then shoot it with a full clip from my 9mm.
(of course I would pick up the debris)

How about one of those Fram oil drain plugs? If you don't want to transfer from one contaner to the other. When you get to the end of the oil in your pan pull it out and drain the remainder via a funnel ito the gas can. The fram plug works well for me I have had no issues with mine at all. You can get one at almost any autoparts store.

I didn't see anybody mention a old windshield washer fluid container.
I save my old ones and use a funnel to transfer it. Hold 5qts. Take it to the local auto shop for recycling and toss the container in their trash bin after you empty it.

I used to use just an oil drain pan and fill up antifreeze or washer bottle's until I bought the same thing you hate. I personsally love it. Had it for two years and have had no problems at all. I change oil on three vehicles every three months and it has never leaked , even carring it by the handle. That's just my experience.

I don't know how it is in other parts of the US....but in Cali, they charge u a tax when u buy oil....well when you recycle, you're supposed to get it back...kinda like with soda bottles....I didn't know this until my buddy who works at an Autozone told me...

I have one of these... the only problem is it nearly doubles the amount of time it takes for the oil to drain. It's pretty slow.

I drain mine into the same pan with a pouring lip for the past 20 years. Then I pour it into a US Army Jerry Can. The State of TX has oil dump stations at several TX Dept. of Transportation facilities. so I dump it there a couple times a year. Have my wife drive me down there while I hold the Jerry Can.
Sure I spill some oil on the garage floor every now and then. So what. It's a GARAGE and it cleans up with kitty litter or newspaper.
