URD and Oregon DEQ (P0420)

I have at 2000 4runner with CALI specs... and I have pulled P0420 code (cat insufficiency) and was wondering if I used the URD simulator if it would pass DEQ since their technically would be no error code of the ECU? Let me know what you gurus out their think....

Oh and now you are wondering if I have replaced any O2 sensors...This is what I have done to clear (P0130) error code.

Replaced both Oxygen sensors, TPS sensor and MAF sensor.....Now I have P0420.....I need to make sure the Oxygen sensor are OEM Denso brand with the correct serial numbers and I hope I won’t have to purchase a new Cat....ouch...

Any help would be much appreciated. I have read almost all other posts on this issue….

The URD sim has rid me of all P0420 codes for the last 2 years. It will only get rid of p0420 and the rear O2 sensor must be in place and working. I don't know what a DEQ is though.

Just a heads up. URD was out-of-stock on the simulator for quite some time. Now a new model is available, and the site says installation is simplified. So older info in this regard may be inaccurate.

99Yota4, if you want useful feedback, post your truck/engine info (or put in sig) and what you have already tried. I cured my P0420 with a new rear sensor; I would certainly go that route if I had 75K or more on the existing sensor and no other code. No sense breaking laws in an emissions testing state if we don't have to.

I installed a rear o2 simulator after I had the same code and replaced the rear o2 sensor. Unfortunately the NJ motor vehicle inspection said the rear sensor had disappeared. I was hoping it actually corrected the code. I called URD and triple checked everything including the o2 sensor #'s. I will probably have to install a new CAT.

So was this the newer URD design sim? What are the installation instructions for it? Did you solder all connections?
