Lee,
got my truck back yesterday...all i can say is it rides much better than stock. I am super stoked with this setup. Even though it sits higher, it's alot tighter and more responsive and stable.
was a little surprised how much it lifted (almost 2")...didn't think it would look that high. But it looks good and it serves my purpose of wanting just a little lift (extra clearance for snow and the odd rock on logging roads) without putting too much strain on other parts.
note though: to install the rear shocks on a 3rd generation was a bit of a pain...it took my guy a long time cause he couldn't access the top bolts easily...the front went smooth. Now i gotta get an alignment done.
Let me know what you think when you get your truck back. (and post pics)

I can do the rear shock and strut on the 3rd gen in less then 40 min. The front I took out and had a shop mount the shock into the spring and then put it back in myself. So less then an hour of work for me to do the front as well.

is there a trick to do them?...cause i was there watching him...and he couldn't access from the wheel well because it is blocked...so he had to go from underneath and putting the bolts back in was driving him nutz (trust me he was frustrated!) he worked for toyota for 16 years but worked mostly on 1st generations.
so if you got a trick i can pass along..please do!...
will post pics at lunch.

you have to jack up the rear so the axle droops a little, then you can get your hand up and over the upper shock mount to get the nut started. you then hold the nut in place w/ a wrench and then turn the shock w/ your hand to tighten it.
a body lift helps simplify this tremendously...

a body lift is the biggest thing. Another trick I found was to stick the shock in, and then put the nut on, and screw it by hand a couple of threads. Then put a ratcheting wrench on the nut, and then turn the shock from the bottom, instead of trying to turn the nut from the top. Cause if you try to turn the nut you have to do it in 1/4 turn increments. Then once its as tight as it will go, go back and make the last few turns on the nut to make it snug. Make sure you check it after 500 miles.

got her back. oh man oh man. she looks so damn good. no pics cause i had to go straight to work (came in late to pick her up!)... holy moly. its fantastic.
i need to get used to the height though.. climbing in aint easy anymore! and i actually feel the opposite to badlnds... i think it feels much more top heavy now and less stable. but ill get used to it.
the mt/rs are SICK. pretty loud, but gorgeous!
pics tonight...

Lee, I have to admit, it makes me giggle every time someone burns you for those hardcore wheeling pics. Even though the Ashburnham trails are stock-able they at least don't look so sad in pics...
What size MTR's did you go with? I think it was posted somewhere but I am not going searching for it.
BTW, different subject but I like the fact that almost everyone I have seen on the board that came on the last run has pics from it as their avatar.
One final thought: ?!?!?! Hurry, I am eager to see. I second the early day at the office, go home now! Even better, come out here and we will get some muddy pics tonight, before this last rain dries up!
Hey, check out FoxFab in rhode island (www.foxfab4x4.com), he has some really good prices on sliders, I was about to get a pair but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on the TJM, so they will have to wait a bit.
