Sunroof open and all windows down EXCEPT the rear. I'll only open it to help cool the truck off after sitting in the sun for the first couple miles. I don't get the exhaust like I did with my old '90 but I think having the rear window down adds more wind noise.

I don't get much exhaust in the back, so I leave it down whenever the front windows are down. Sometimes I open it just crack and leave the vents on Outside Air to get some circulation. When the pavement is wet, or not pavement, I get a lot of blow-back into the truck - gets messy. I never have the sunroof open when I'm under way - too noisy!

OPEN! when it's dry and not too hot. With it open 1/4 to 1/3 it keeps the wind buffeting down, vents the truck better, and the dogs love it. When it came time to sell my old Bronco with its roll-down rear window, my initial attraction to the 4Runner was the rear window -- no others have it!

No sunroof on my 85, (yet) but I often roll down the rear window 1/4 - 1/2 way with the front windows rolled down.
Or I'll just take the top off for the summer!......Gotta love these 1st gens!!
But my girlfriends 95 runner has the sunroof. Usualy it is open ,with all the windows and the rear window down all the way.

I don't run the a/c 'cause it feels like I'm hauling a semi behind me, so I use the 2/65 mod.<<<<let the two fronts down, open the sunroof and crack the rear window about 6 inches.>>>>

One of the main reason I bought the runner over anything else was so that I could roll the window down!!! I have never experienced any problems with exhaust? I also love that the rear two windows do not have the child saftey locks that prohibit you from rolling them all the way down!!! No wonder I love this thing so much.

I love cruising with the back window down some and the windows down a bit too. I get a very nice breeze through the truck.

I only get exhaust gasses at low speeds under say 25mph. I have had to replace my exhaust pipe the new one is routed a bit differently to clear the bumper I had at the time. I'd say that is why on my truck the exaust is a minimal issue.
