Universal joint replacement

Universal joint replacement
I think I found the problem with the clunk in the rear of my "01 4Runner. I took off the slip yoke to see if that is where the trouble was and found something interesting. The U-Joint that attaches to the slip yoke definetly has a "detent" type feeling in it when I rotated it. The detent type feeling is in the middle of it's travel. These universal joints should be "smooth" through all phases of motion correct?
Has anyone had their slip yoke off and noticed this on the U-Joint?
Has anyone ever replaced this U-Joint before?
Thanks for the input.

Ahh yes U-Joints. I replace mine about once year. hehehe
I either kill the front or the rear.
Takes me about 45min to do it now. All you need is a bench vise and a BFH (Big Friggen Hammer)
I dont know why I keep kiling U-Joints ? Dunno if it's cause I buy the Cheap'Os at Part Source, Or because I Wheel to hard ? Or if its from pulling Buddies outta the mud ? Could also be my Heavy foot.
Easy job to do.
