Tweeter Pods in a 89-95 pickup
The tweeter pods here:
I'm wondering if the same modifications shown here http://www.customtacos.com/tech/inde...x_v2&id=25&c=6 would work in a pre-tacoma pickup. The only reason why I ask is because I'm not sure because they just say pre-01 only. They don't happen to tell how far back they will fit.

I don't know how well they would fit... They look pretty tacky though, unless you have a black interior. Why not go for some Coaxial speakers (speakers with built in tweeters)? I have a set of Pioneer ones in my truck, and even at a dinky 4 inches a piece I am pleased with them.

I don't think they would work on the drivers side. I experimented with mounting my Infinity tweeters there and realized it wouldn't work since that sail panel is so close to the instrument cluster bulge in the dash.
Here's a pic of how I did mine instead. Not hard at all to do since I used the hardware that came with the component speakers.

Get vinyl dye (spray paint) and color match them to your interior. Problem solved. I think they look good, but there is the issue of interference on the driver side...(I also looked at this recently)
My stock pieces without the tweet is black - does that make it tacky too?

Yeah I would just leave them black because whats there is already black. I'm not going to do this anytime soon though. Just found out that the paint booth that I was going to use got shut down so its going to cost me about 500-600$ to have my truck painted. Isn't too bad considering for the same materials, if I were to buy them, would cost me 450$. Damn maroon paint being one of the most expensive paints to buy.

Well the thing is that they said that you would have to modify them to fit anyway. the bottom part of the pod at least. I'm just curious if they fit up everywhere execpt the bottom.

I have no problem with black things. They are not tacky for being black. But only if there are other black accents is my point.
I like the tweeter further up on the pillar.
*Idea: You could get those import gauge clusters for on the pillar and put tweeters in there. I thikn that would look sweet. Except I don't think they make passenger side ones.
