Turndown Pipes...

I searched, but not really finding my answer I was wondering which simply sounds deeper with practiaclly any muffler? A tailpipe with a tip, or a turndown? My exhaust pip is about to rust through, so either a new setup with a turndown, or I'm keeping my Vortex and running duals .
Which one?

I would say that if you do a dump setup, you should have a deeper sound mainly from the fact that you are moving the exhaust from the back to right underneath you. Lots of Mustang guys do the dumps and they sound good. But give them headaches. Being that the 3.4 ain't no 5.0, give it a shot and report back!

when the exhaust does not exit the side/back of the vehicle, the exhaust rises into the bed, and the moisture in it will result in corrosion. Something to remember.

Flowmaster 50 and a turndown. I like it, wouldn't change it. Ive had it for about 2 years. No ill effects that I can see. Nor, do I ever get an exhaust smell in my truck, even with the windows down. Thats the point of the turn-down...it points it down to the ground, rather than up into the bed of the truck.

and i dont have ANY problems with my exhaus, no smells in the vehicle, windows all open or full closed! and since i dont have any spare tire under there, it seems to amplify the sound a bit

i dont know if this going to work, this is my first soundclip and the camra was not working the way it is supposed to. and by the way, it sounds much better now rather than with a Cat. and a muffler.
hate it or love it...

its louder in person, and you can actually feel it rumble...i like it, so insult away, cause im sure there will be a few haters of it.

merry xmas, to both the lovers and the haters of my exhaust

you will NEVER here a 3.0 petrol sound like a bloody 69 charger, cause that seems to be what everyone shoots for...at least i have less to worry about hitting when i go wheeling...so there

That's actually a valid point in support of a turndown. Although I didn't do any real damage to it, I did whack my exhaust pretty good the other day. I've been seriously considering doing what SC4Runner did to his.

see, i might sound like a loud 3.0 but i dont have to worry about hitting my tailpipe...muffler...cat. converter...while wheeling. i knew there was a 2nd good reason for getting rid of them!

also i dont have to worry about the cat. converter thief anymore AND i dont have to waste money on changing the converter is something happend to it, same for the muffler, so for 130bz(60us) getting that resignator put on and removing the coverter and muffler has saved me a bunch of money, and i didnt even have to call geico

both my friend and i put 14" magnaflows on our trucks. i've got a 3.slow and he's got a 3.4 on his taco. We both have turndowns right after the muffler and they sound awesome. He had a flowmaster before and it was just aweful. It was too loud and too "wet fartish." The magnaflow's much quieter and sounds a ton better, even with just a turn down. Go w/ a turndown. Make sure it's not dropping off onto any wires though cause it'll melt right through them.
