Tundra Brakes 199mm, fitting question.
Alright, I'm looking at upgrading to the Tundra brakes (199mm), I've already looked around at new Calipers, Rotors, and Pads that I've pretty much settled on. I'm a bit worried about fitting them though, so here's my story that I hope someone can help me with. When I put my wheels (Rock Crawler Series 98, 4.25" BS) on a month or so ago, I HAD to use the 1/4" spacers (that I bought just incase), because the wheel was scraping the caliper without them. With those on, there was very little wheel stud space left, the lugs didn't get as many rotations (in the rear aswell) as I though they would need, but anyway, they worked. Now wanting to buy these new calipers, what am I going to do? Am I going to need to buy longer wheel studs and new spacers (seems to me like you can't do one without the other)? Or if anyone can relate to this that has done the brake upgrade, do you think I'll be fine?

Don't see it fitting (I did the wl caliper upgrade) if they barely fit the oe calipers with spacers. My new rotors were slightly thicker too, and I lost a turn or two on the studs. With a 1/4" spacer on oe 3spokes the calipers barely clear, no grinding done to either the caliper or the wheel.
I have no experience with them, but it seems something like the Wabbit's 1" bolt-on spacers would be of use to you? https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f37/...mudder-193684/
For more info check with him.

Thank you, I might have to check with him on those, yes. I'm gonna wait around to see if anyone replies to this to post their opinion about this whole deal.

As hab mentioned, the rotors are a little thicker, which doesn't help you if you're already limited on stud length. I have the stock 5 spoke rims which are around 4.6xx backspacing and the 199 calipers cleared fine. But again, I lost a few turns on the studs too.

True, so I'm going to lose some turns no matter what. Maybe I'll do some measurements, do you know the stock size of the calipers for our 3rd gens, do they come all the same?

I found out the OEM calipers are stamped 'S13WM', I've looked and looked and can't find the measurement of them though! If I found that out I'd just have to subtract from the 199's then figure out how much of a wheel spacer I need, right? The new rotors will be wider as well, right?

I don't know if this helps or not but I am putting the bigger 231 mm calipers on. The 13WL's on but have 1.5" wheel spacers. With those I have over an inch clearing the stock calipers. I am waiting on the new SS brake lines to come in. Will be doing this along with a new CV joint on march 16th. Taking pics and video of both.

My setup has 5mm of clearance with 1/4" spacers. I have 4 5/8" backspace on my Toyota 3 spokes, but apparently the design allows for more room in back.

The easiest fix--but not the cheapest is to get Mickey Thompson Classic II's (16"x8") with 3 & 5/8ths" BS. I have plenty of room even with the 199 calipers. I pretty sure i could even run the larger Upgrade calipers--and This also sets you up for larger Tires like 35's

Yeah, cause like I said before, my fronts NEEDED the 1/4" spacers to clear the OEM setup. Are they really that big that I'd need another 1" of space there with the issues I'm having with the lengths of my wheel stud, which puzzles me because it sounds like everyone else has plenty of space. Must just be the wheel I got.

Nah, not looking to replace my wheels for this. Also, I looked at my calipers today, and measured them, got 152.4mm. Just to make sure, I asked the parts manager (here at Ford) to use his sweet hookups and call Toyota to see if he could find out the real size of the 'S13WM' that I currently have. He told me that Toyota doesn't have an exact size in their records. But another thing came up, does anyone know if the Brembo Tundra rotors come with new/longer studs?

I don't have any idea if they are easy or not... I would assume they are like every other front wheel stud you just have to pound them out and put new ones in... but i really don't know for sure. After the 15th of this month i will know. Thats when these brakes are going on.

I checked today and have like 2mm left on my fronts, so I really wanna get this project going. I wonder if the dealership sells longer studs.

That place has them for $2.46 per stud. Running me like 30 bucks for all 6 on each side. Those also say 'rear' does it really matter, the rear are longer right?

I still don't see how you're going to clear the caliper with your wheels. Guess you are planning on using a wider spacer and are planning to use the floating rather than the bolt on variety and that's why you need the longer studs?

Yeah, looking to use a wider spacer. I will have no stud left if I go any bigger though, I'm already limited on space. I don't see how some guys could even do this swap, it just seems like there is no space to do this unless you get longer studs. Must just be my wheels. So yes, sounds like I would need longer studs and larger spacers.
