Tru Cool 4544 Installation Orientation Question

I've read through most if not all of the strawberry milkshake posts and oil transmission cooler installations. My thanks to everyone who has posted their information on this, and my sympathies to those who suffered the milkshake issue.

I am having my cooler installed tomorrow. I noted that with the Hayden cooler it was highly recommend that the in and out lines are installed on the side or the top.

Is that the recommendation as well for the Tru Cool? Is it ok to mount the radiator with the lines on the bottom?

Thanks in advance,

David

On the mounting for the Tru Cool its probably even more important to have the inlet manifold at the top and outlet manifold at the bottom because of the bypass tubes between the inlet and outlet. You don't want for it to be easier for the flow to bypass the whole cooler and its easier for the cooler to be bypassed if the flow has to go against gravity to get to all the small passages. If you need a pic for that to make sense let me know.

Keep in mind I haven't actually done any fluid flow lab testing on this or anything but IMHO.

Thanks!

The pictures are *excellent* and the reasoning sound. I will have it mounted side or top.

Many thanks again for your help!

it also depends on where you're planning to install it. Most of us installed in front of the radiator. like this:

but if you can find a spot where the elevation of the new intake manifold is lower than the elevation
of the stock intake manifold, install it there. This is to minimize the strain on the oil pump by having
gravity help move the oil in the system.

This is why i installed mine with the intake manifold on top, to compensate for the the elevation
change in the system since my new intake manifold is higher than the stock intake manifold.

Also, the shorter the path the atf has to travel in the system, the better.

I know we're being anal about this, but this is why we're on Yotatech, right?
