Transmission Cooler Lines 96 Tacoma
Hi guys, I got a leaky transmission cooler line right infront of the fitting as it goes into the transmission... the line is corroded. My question is... can I buy a short length of fuel line (about a foot), connect it to the fitting, put it back in the transmission and attach rubber hose to the other end with clamps to connect it back to the rad? Or....is it a must to have pressure fittings (clamps) to connect the line to the rubber?

i broke one of the hard lines from the transmission to the soft trans hose that goes to the radiator/trans cooler. i ended up buying it from the dealer, i was surprised that it was only about $30 (that was a couple years ago). i know $30 is more than what your suggesting, but if it comes down to buying a new OEM piece, at least you'll know it's not priced super crazy. good luck

Well, started to tackle the job the weekend but never got very far..... man, there is no room down there to do anything and on top of that, your working around alot of other corroded lines. These two transmission cooling lines are going to be brutal to replace!!! Plus, the two fitting that enter the transmission are so gunked up with dirt, I'm scared to even attempt to take them out of the transmission. A job that seemed so simple when first thought about, is turning out to be a nightmare!!!
