I just got a case (6 Quarts) of Mobil1 SuperSyn from Sam's Club for $23.33 (cheap and easy to buy) and ready to do an oil change. How do I drain all the old oil out? Do I have to do anything else before put in the Synthetic oil?

Amsoil suggests that you use some kind of flush - there's a thread in the Maintenance section that's parallel to this one.

Seems that most people don't bother with the flush and it looks okay.

If you don't do the flush, maybe you want to make that first oil change after the synth switch sooner?

heh heh...
can you say that 3 times really fast?

synth switch sooner, synth switch sooner, synth switch sooner!

Toyota OEM filters are pretty damn good. There's no problem using it. I use Amsoil oil everywhere so I just order an Amsoil filter along with everything else. Otherwise I'd use the OEM. The OEM is just easier to get, run to your local Yota stealership.

Although they recommend synthetic oil w/their filters, if you don't tell the Amsoil oil it has no way of knowing it's a Toyota filter.

It's no problem doing that. The Toyota filters are supposed to be very good. If you were thinking of using a poor quality filter with synthetic then I'd not suggest it. Toyota filter, Amsoil filter, all good from what I've seen/read.

Alright, guys. I just got toyota filter and a case (6 quarts) of Mobil1 SuperSyn for total of 30 bucks, cheap, right? Do I have to replace the washer for the oil lug every oil change?

If you have an extra washer, then yes. If you started the oil change and then realized, like I did, just check the washer. Clean it up and re-use it. Some people may trash me for that but I am still running good. Knock on wood.

Your method is safe with me. I never replaced mine until about 3 times ago when I realized the gasket was in the drain pan and I had installed and filled and replaced the plug with no washer. wo I waited until the new oil change and installed a new one then. it didn't leak or anything. I won't loose this one but I do have a spare now since whenever I buy cheap parts I buy twice as many as I need so I always have spares.
EDIT: oh yea, I am over 100k now and still running strong.
