towing a toyota pickup with a 4runner.

Im thinking about towing a older pickup with my 4runner. its a 93 short bed regular cab 4x4. does anyone have any idea if i could tow a pickup with my 4runner. i think that the tow capacity is 5000lbs. it wouldnt be every day. just a occasional playing in da mud. so, has anyone ever done this? would it just be stupid to do it? would i need to mod the suspension alot? my other alternative is to buy a tundra sometime down the road. dont really want to do that though.

I assume you are putting a tow bar on the pickup and not using a trailer? Then the only weight on your hitch would be that of the tow bar - negligible and not enough to bother the suspension. Since you are in FL hills won't be an issue but adding a tranny cooler would be a very good idea. A couple of simulated panic stops on a deserted road will reveal if you need to upgrade the brakes or not.

I pulled this set up with my 90 4runner seems you should have no issue with a mini truck

well, basically we go back roads to a spot to ride and mud the trucks/atvs/dirtbikes. i would like to haul my buddys truck on a trailer occasionally so we can take it. its not street legal. and if it was, its not a very good street truck. how much does one of the small reg cab short bed pickups weigh? 3000 or so?

according to my title, registration and a few other documents, my '93 reg cab 22re 4x4 weighs about 3800lbs

dont tell them what you are towing.. say you are towing a miata or a geo metro... then they will rent you one.
