Tokico top nut stripped off
so offroading today at cleghorn, i started to hear a really nasty sound. stopped and looked, the top nut on the shock was missing, and the shock had fallen down in the spring and was floatting around and hitting the top plate.
managed to limp it home, didnt go over 30, didnt want anything catastrpohic happeneing.
it looks as if the wrong nut was put on, but i made sure to use the one that came screwed on the end out of the box. 100% sure on this. was tightened to spec, etc etc.
so my question is, HOW? and after someone answers taht for me, what to do next? do i try to bitch at tokico for a new shock? or do i just bite it and buy a new one? or should i replace both front shocks with something else/better?
btw, this is the tundra lift on the front of my 3rd gen. so i would be looking for tundra shocks.

no stripped, i can feel the threads that have been torn off and are kinda still hanging there, alot like when you drill a hole in aluminium, ill get some pics of it when i can pull it apart, maybe tomorrow, more likely to be in several weeks.

I had a similar but more dangerous thing happen--of the four Tokico shocks that came with my lift, one of the nuts the wrong size, which resulted in the coil and strut assembly shooting through the garage like a missile. I let Steve Schaffer know about the problem, but ultimately it appears to be Tokico's fault.
Here's my post.

wow, maybe this is a real problem with tokico.
ill let him know on monday, see what we can work out. ill likely just buy a new shock from him, since the other one only has a few hundred miles on it.
