If you have 96-98 4Runner brackets, just cut the plates off. That's it. If you have a Tacoma bumper, you have big problems. The center piece is the same but the wings are different. Also the mounting brackets are different, if they could have used the same brackets for the 95.5 to 2000 Tacoma as they did for the 96-98 4Runner, they would have, but they did not.

Tacoma also had a side strap the 4Runner did not. All of the parts are gone, TJM itself is gone, so you basically have a product from a company that no longer does business in the US and does not have any spare parts available. Your on your own basically.

You have 2 big problems, first finding out what it is you actaully have there? Secondly mounting it, which will require a custom setup.

They left me high and dry as well.

Thanks for the response Steve. I appreciate it a ton.

The guy I purchased my TJM from assured me it was for a 4runner and after searchin around and checkin out the mounts I have, I'm thinking they are the 96-98 mounts and I'm just goin for it (well a buddy of mine that runs a shop locally here is goin for it for me. ) I'll post up how it turns out.

So I don't have a clue as to what mounts I actually ended up with, but the main bumper is def the Tacoma/4Runner and the wings seem to be the 4Runner ones.

So the mounts... They didn't quite completely just bolt up after cutting off the factory end mount plates. We had to cut a bit more of the end of the frame off. After that, the bottom two frame holes lined up, but only one of the other holes lined up and doing anything with the other one was gonna be a giant pain in the butt. So we opted for adding a bolt to the end plate and forgetting about the hole that didn't line up. I think it worked out great and I feel fine about it. We'll see how it works out after a bit of use I guess.

So I wonder what mounts I ended up with? Are we 100% certain there is only the two different configurations for the 4Runner? Just wondering. Anyway, here's some pics just for fun.

That is a Tacoma bumper and Tacoma mounts. The bolt spread for the front bumper mounts Tacoma is shorter than that of a 4Runner.

If you post a pic of the side I can tell you if they are Tacoma side wings.

Steve,

You mentioned the Tacoma and 4Runners used the same main bumper part in a post just a bit up above...what makes mine specifically the Tacoma version?

That makes sense though that the mounts are Tacomas.

And after looking at other 4Runner T15s, I'm thinking my wings do not have the same bumper to wheel opening length as most of them appear to have... So perhaps they are Tacoma as well? And the whole shebang I ended up with was Tacoma? Its all making sense now.

Not that I'm worried about it at all cause I'm lovin how it looks and I feel the mounts will hold up well and if they don't appear to be holdin up down the road, then I'll just revisit them and get them strengthened up. Only question now is how well a winch will bolt up in there. Hopefully find that out soon enough.

Everything there is Tacoma. You have a complete Tacoma T-15.

Definitely makes sense. Can you think of any issues with throwing a winch in there? Or any other weirdness issues?

And I'm wondering how you could tell from the front that it was Tacoma rather than 4Runner... I'm not seeing the difference...

The wings and mounts brackets are different, the main bumper beam is the same. You need to get that second bolt in the side stock bumper mounts.

used is your only option...TJM pulled out of the US real quick.

might find one on ebay, craigslist or maybe a member selling one online.
