Tires make a difference....
Well I am still a firm believer in Stock Projektz....
But these new Goodyear Wrangler AT/S look way better than the ones that were on the 4Runner when I bought it. (I gave the last new tires to my ex g/f)

Goodyear ATS. Run, run fast. Horrible. Don't ever go off pavement, and try not to go on pavement either. These are world famous for flats and blowouts for no apparent reason. They come stock on so many rigs because they are cheap, not because they are good...

i worked in the tire industry for a good amount of time... flats happen, so do blowouts.. i didnt see too many come in with those ailments... most of the time, people just came in to get the worn out ones changed..... i do think they are just about as crappy a tire you can get though...

Those came on my 4Runner back in 95. Junk. I got about 20K miles out of them.
Think you can still switch back with your g/f? If not, maybe just turn the white letters inside so no one will notice?

Sure flats happen, but not often. I've destroyed a couple of tires offroad (rock cuts) and had maybe 2 other flats in 25 years, except for the Goodyears, which experienced a total of 4 flats and one shredded tire during the life of the set. The Dunlops I have now on the same truck have 35k on them, no flats there.
I had a set of Goodyear 265/70R17s that came on my 98 and had 3 flats (one totally shredded while on the road) within the first year or so. 2 more flats before the tires wore out (at 40k). I was so happy they didn't last long. A friend of mine during the same time period had the same experience, and a guy in my office bought a new 2002 and he had a bunch of flats with the Goodyears too. None of these trucks has seen any offroad use!

[[Are flats really to be blamed on the tire????]] Ordinarily, I wouldn't blame a tire for a flat. Stuff happens. But in all the years and all the rigs and all the tires I've never had flat "problems" except with the Goodyears, and I'm talking about a lot of miles on a lot of different tires. (We put lotsa miles on our rigs.) And I'm not the only one, it's pretty common to hear the same story from people with those tires. Oh, and they didn't grip well either. The Dunlop ATs I have now are smoother, quieter, grip better, and no flats.
